I had requested 2 beds and got one. Fortunately, the staff provided an air mattress for the extra bed. The staff was always very helpful, and the complimentary breakfast options were adequate. The old charm of the building cannot be replaced by a modern hotel with all the extras. The parking is very limited next to the hotel. The overflow parking is a long block away. Overall, my stay was very nice.

Quaint renovated older hotel decorated in Victorian style, each room unique. Staff cordial. Breakfast area small, but many food choices, mostly cold ones. Convenient location. Could use some refresh in areas. Parking lot small at hotel. On street parking available. No elevator, but many steps for those not on first floor.

A Unique Hotel!

We enjoyed our stay. The Inn is unique and as the oldest continually operating hotel In Portland, it was cool to be part of that history! Be aware if you are planning to stay, there is not an elevator so if you have any limitations, you will want to be sure you are on the first floor. The Inn is in a great location with the waterfront within walking distance and has free onsite parking. It was clean and quiet and the staff was friendly. Would definitely stay there again!

This beautiful lamp is in the front window and visible when you come down the stairs.
The front of the hotel with the lovely little chairs and tables for sitting, or waiting for a ride or having coffee or eating Amato’s pizza!

An old hotel with character! The staff was very friendly and helpful. It had a nice breakfast. The rooms could use some updating with paint and wallpaper, and our air conditioner ran constantly and was pretty noisy.

The Inn is convenient to the airport. Though somewhat dated, it is clean and quiet, and the staff wonderful. The breakfast is good, and tea/coffee/cookies available about all the time. Our second stay; we'd stay there again.

Disappointment at the Inn at St. John in Portland,

Our room was VERY small, and the en suite bathroom tiny, with barely enough room for one person. The shower was the narrowest I’ve ever seen, but there was a good supply of hot water. The bed was too small and way too soft. The “continental breakfast” was meagre and there was little space to sit comfortably. Our room was upstairs, but there was no elevator and the stairs were extremely steep. I would not recommend the inn to another. We were quite disappointed.

The room was great! Quiet, comfortable, fairly spacious. Continental breakfast was good. Staff was friendly when we checked in, but not as much when we left. Due to flight delays we didn’t arrive until the next day. When I notified the hotel of the delay they indicated that they would see about a discount since we paid for 2 nights but only spent 1. Nothing was mentioned upon check out.
