We had to climb 3 flights of STEEP stairs with luggage to get to room. Room smelled strange and we had shared bathroom felt like we were staying in a hostel
Good price, nice decoration, cosy and clean. Best location to be near city center and go by walking. Then easy to leave town to go around Cap Elizabeth or elsewhere.
I love old historic inns and this one was a nice surprise with the unique design and old architecture. It was an easy walk to the waterfront, and so convenient to have parking included.

Liked: Staff & service
This is an old, budget hotel with wonderful staff. The bathrooms are down the hall and the rooms are old and worn. But if you don’t mind that and are looking for a low price, this is a good spot. Staff is excellent.
Visiting Portland for the music festival. Took the train up from CT. The hotel was in walking distance from the train station and the shuttle for the festival. Very nice, quiet inn. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Portland was a little sketchier than I thought. The place was very satisfactory and the room was clean. The breakfast was excellent and had a good variety of fresh products to grab and go or sit and eat.
What a cool older place in Portland ME. Hotel stays are super expensive during the summer peak season. We found this gem that was walking distance to downtown. Had a nice continental breakfast. Staff was super polite and friendly. Only couple of drawbacks, no elevator and parking is tight and limited (however they do not charge for parking). Would go back in a heartbeat.
Great little place with excellent service. Close to Thompson point which made for a super easy night out!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Property itself is very unique inside and outside. I didnt like to share washroom with someone else as we didnt have it inside the room. Location is fine as long as you have a car. Otherwise its a poor area and must watch out if you plan walking around.
We really liked our stay here; everything was very clean and the staff was nice. You should realize though that this is a very old building. The update and remodeling is great! However, it has narrow stairs and no elevator. That did not bother us, and I highly recommend the place, but if are expecting a modern building's amenities, you will be disappointed. Embrace the charm of the vintage vibe! Also, i highly recommend the bar/cafe next door, Bread and Olive....absolutely first rate and laid back.
