The staff was incredibly friendly, the food that the hotel catered left much to be desired. Salmon and a steak that was dry as a brick, vegetables that were not sautéed/cooked all the way through so they were mostly stiff, blow dryer didn’t work in the room, which they replaced. The ceiling had paint peeling back, the mini fridge really didn’t work, was on some type of tray that it pulled out, but that didn’t work well either so it was uneven. Difficult to open. It has interesting history, beautiful woodwork throughout. One drink from the bar cost $30 for a tall double of amaretto and Sprite. Save your money and go elsewhere, that’s twice the cost. I’ve paid anywhere in my life. I could’ve just gone and bought a whole bottle of Disaronno myself and a 12 pack of Sprite for that cost. Sink in the bathroom was a bit clogged.

Our room emwas right next to tge kitchen exhaust for a popular steakhouse, so our roon wreaked of fried steak fat and it permeated our luggage and clothes. There was no fan in the bathroom. I was not impressed given that this is a high end hotel. The rooms need updating.

The room was great and the staff exceptional! We also enjoyed a breakfast and a dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The stairwell journey through a history of pictures was informative. For those interested in the Paranormal activity side of our visit: light brightness adjusted on its own with one of our bedside lights inside the suite on the 4th floor. And one of our faces was distorted in a picture taken in front of the staircase in the lobby.

Nice historic hotel with updated rooms. Great bar staff and the Lobby fireplace is a nice place to unwind with a cocktail. Portland is far from being a "War Zone" and it's dining options are second to none these days.

The hotel itself was really nice, we loved how historic it was but with it being old.. the room doors have a gap to the hallway and the walls are thin so you can hear everything, the bathrooms felt like a RV bathroom they’re so tiny, the bed and pillows are super uncomfortable. Other than that, the staff was friendly & the location was great.
