🚩WARNING🚩 DO NOT STAY HERE🚩 The short-term stay, Filippesca, is well-appointed and generally comfortable; however, our experience with the damage deposit process was highly disconcerting and irregular.
Upon arrival, before check-in would be allowed, the owner demanded that we provide a €500 damage deposit before being granted access to the suite. We were assured that the deposit would be fully refunded at the end of our stay. Although we left the accommodation in excellent condition and documented everything with photos before departure, we did not receive our deposit back.
We followed up several times, first he said it would take 7 days. When that time passed, I followed up again and was told the money would not be returned. He then stopped answering texts and phone calls completely.
We've stayed in many accommodations in our various trips to Italy and never encountered anything like this. No legitimate short-term stay accommodation operates this way - demanding large amounts of money as deposits on arrival, holding people hostage, knowing no other accommodations are likely available on short notice, especially in Positano. There seems to be zero accountability for returning money to guests.
To protect its valued customers, I recommend that Expedia remove this short-term stay accommodation, Filippesca, from their listings.
