Our group has long loved reading about the Eastern Townships in author, Louise Penny’s books about Three Pines and Inspector Gamache. The idea of visiting the area burbled for a while, and we finally did it — and stayed at the best farmhouse in the area!
The farmhouse and property were beyond beautiful! It is a spacious house, with large comfortable bedrooms, superbly equipped kitchen, lovely setting in the country, and two outdoor cats that visited the porch each day.
Located in Mansonville, it was the perfect starting point for our day trips to Magog (and the Abbeye), Knowlton-Lac Brome, Compton, Lac Brompton-St. Denis-de-Lac Brompton, and the area. We had so many choices for places to go and things to do and see. We got to the Lac Brome Book store with its Louise Penny nook; visited an organic fromagerie (cheese factory) in Compton; saw the big round barn, the bakery and restaurant in Mansonville, and visited downtown Magog.
The beautiful fireplace in the house warmed us up on a rainy night. The view from the kitchen — the mountains, the woods, the stable, the riding ring and the tractor were delightful.
It was picture perfect and we could not have found a lovelier place for our “holiday home.” We’d all come back in a blink and will be sure to tell our other friends what a wonderful stay we had!
Thank you, Izabellam for sharing this lovely space with us!
