I had to cancel my reservation the morning of check-in due to coming down with the flu. I immediately reached out to Jaime, explained the situation, and even acknowledged that I was outside the cancellation window. I suggested he try to rebook the unit and emphasized that I wasn't expecting a refund—just needed the reservation officially canceled so I could file a travel insurance claim.Unfortunately, Jaime refused to cancel the reservation and instead altered it to a one-night stay without my consent. Despite repeated calls to VRBO over the weekend, I was told they couldn’t process the cancellation without the host's cooperation. Jaime still refused.By Monday, a VRBO manager confirmed they couldn’t issue the cancellation email I needed, but said they'd reach out to Jaime to waive the cancellation fee. No one ever followed up. I ended up losing the full cost of my three-night stay, and now I can’t submit my travel insurance claim. Jaime has been completely unresponsive throughout. Very frustrating experience with both the host and VRBO. I would not recommend Jaime as a host, an honest person and stay elsewhere!
