The pictures on Expedia was nice, In real life it’s not the same it’s an old building no elevator the pool is old and chipping the jacuzzi is dirty and old school. The stairs were narrow and old. There were a lot of flys and mascitos. The gentleman at the desk didn’t even ask if we needed help with our suitcase. We left after the first night.

The workers are so sweet and helpful in everything. The place is old and I did get bit by bugs at night and broke out pretty bad. Even saw a lizard in my room. Outside of that, it’s affordable with everything easily nearby. Super safe. Locals are so kind. Love Mexico and Garlands Del Rio and their angelic cats whom they’ve adopted and take care of inside the hotel.

This was my second time staying at Garlands del Río, and it was just as magical as I remembered. I first visited over five years ago and made it a point to find this charming riverside boutique hotel again — even searching through old photos on my phone to relocate it. It was absolutely worth it. From the moment you step onto the property, there’s a calm and peaceful energy that sets the tone for your stay. The entire place has such a unique character — a blend of vintage charm and artistic touches that make it feel like a home away from home. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the peaceful setting by the river creates the perfect atmosphere for rest and reflection. It’s rare to find a place that stays so true to its spirit over time, and Garlands del Río has done just that. I’ll continue to return whenever I can — it’s a true Puerto Vallarta treasure.

Garlands was a nice property. Our room was clean besides a used soap bar that was left in our bathroom. Liked that it was a secure location once granted access, but a little hard to find when arriving.

Extremely rude employees. Very loud construction noise every morning during my stay. Each morning the wall of my room was being hit with hammers or drills and it would start around 8am or sometimes earlier. The hotel staff did not treat me in a hospitable way. They were very hostile on each of the 6 nights I stayed.

We like to stay in theme oriented hotels. Although this was not theme oriented, it was very Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and we loved it! Colorful. This is not one of the conglomerate type of hotel. More family oriented. It made our trip wonderful.

Literally in the heart of Zona Romantica, most destinations were within minutes' walk. Great options for restaurants/bars/attractions. Front desk staff were extremely attentive and felt like family.

The hotel is lovely, full of artsy character and charm. Loved staying here versus the antiseptic and impersonal beach-front hotels. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly, and the amenities are good, rustic and quaint. If you’re looking for a simple, refined and artistic place to stay; highly recommend. Both my wife and I think the staff working Garlands del Rio Riverside Boutique Hotel were great: very friendly, helpful, and generous with their time and knowledge. The location was great: near many areas we were interested visiting; close to transport options; in a friendly neighbourhood; yet, far enough away from crazy, tourist-laden parts of PV.
