My husband and I stayed at Hyatt Place Reno (Sept 19–22) and left with mixed feelings. The hotel opened less than a year ago but already shows wear - thin walls, quirky toilets, and missing light covers in the halls.
Housekeeping is by request only, so trash, towels, and in-room coffee aren’t refreshed unless you ask. On arrival, the elevators were down, which was hard for my 80-year-old husband with COPD. Thankfully, the front desk agent was excellent and moved us from the top floors down to the 2nd floor (no ground floor rooms at this property), carried luggage up the stairs himself, and waived parking and breakfast fees.
Unfortunately, the “new” breakfast is not worth paying for. My plate of eggs, sausage, and potatoes was cold. Gone too are the all-day coffee, snacks, and grab-and-go options Hyatt Place used to offer. Rooms also lack microwaves, which is inconvenient. The 2nd floor ice & water machine were also broken adding to the inconvenience.
On the plus side: comfortable beds, clean rooms, good location at Summit Mall, and mostly kind staff. But with added fees, fewer amenities, and limited food and coffee service, this hotel no longer feels like a good value. I’ll look elsewhere for future Reno visits.
