The charming plateia of Salakos is the hub of the village, where locals and visitors come together in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Salakos is at the crossroads of many of the island's roads making it an ideal location from which to reach all of Rhode's favorite attractions. Diagoras International Airport is only 23kms away, Rhodes Old Town 41kms, and famous Lindos Village is 48kms away. The popular holiday resorts of Faliraki, Kolympia and Afandou are a pleasant 45-minute drive, and Kallithea Springs is 43kms away.

Nearer to Salakos the beaches of Kamiros, Kalavarda, and Soroni are only 10-15 minutes by car, some boasting the best kite surfing conditions, while others are ideal for sunbathing on free sunbeds.

The Ancient Kamiros archeological site is 7.4kms and Kritinia Castle, 26kms, and many other mountain villages such as the tourist village of Embona are only a short drive.
