The Sentinel***** - Romantic duplex apartment in the ramparts

The Sentinel***** is a romantic flat for 2 people, spreading over two floors (duplex) in a medieval house embedded in the medieval rampart of Riquewihr.

Some steep steps (the original historical stairway) take you up from the street to the first floor, at the same level as the former covered defense walk way of the ramparts, where the medieval soldiers used to watch out for enemies, invaders or thieves (therefore the name Sentinel)!

A romantic and elegant living space spreads over the first floor: spacious living room and kitchen.
One level higher, within a beautiful carpenter work of the XVIIth Century, there is the bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and bathroom en suite.


On the mountainside, the medieval city wall is the western wall of the house. On the street side, it is an Alsatian traditional half-timber framed house. Decorated with great care and especially equipped for 1 couple looking for holiday accommodation on the Alsace wine route, at the foot of the Vosges and a few minutes of Colmar only.



The restoration works largely made use of the traditional techniques with organic and healthy materials (untreated wood, natural paintings with lime wash, no chemicals, etc). Authentic polychrome pieces of furniture and fabrics in Alsatian kelsch contribute to make this small house a real jewel.

Charming apartment

Spent 4 nights in this charming apartment. Riquwihr was busy during the day, but it was lovely to stay so close to the centre and enjoy the town after the day trippers had gone. Accommodation was comfortable and equipped with all we needed.

Sehr schöne Wohnung

Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und es fehlte ins an nichts. Die Lage ist sehr zentral. Man öffnet die Tür und steht mitten in Riquewihr. Einfach genial. Ich kann die Wohnung sehr empfehlen.

Gut erholt...

...haben wir uns in der seht gut ausgestatteten und geschmackvoll eingerichteten Wohnung. Riquewihr selbst ist atemberaubend schön und liegt in einer wunderschönen von Weinanbau geprägten Landschaft. Aber auch Ausflüge über schöne Passstraßen in die Vogesen sind lohnend. Die Abwicklung war seht gut organisiert und die Kommunikation war sehr nett und unkompliziert.

Wohlfühlort mit sehr freundlichen Gastgebern

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in der schönen Ferienwohnung in Riquewihr. Die Wohnung ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber sind herzlich, freundlich und entgegenkommend, vielen Dank!Unser kleiner Vierbeiner durfte auch mitkommen;) Riquewihr hat eine schöne historische Altstadt mit vielen Gässchen, kleinen Läden, Cafes und Restaurants und ist umgeben von Weinbergen. Der Ort ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt um die Umgebung zu erkunden. Colmar liegt nur 20 Minuten entfernt.
