We were a bit hesitant after reading some of the online reviews online, but we needed economical accommodation for our family of four during an 8-night stay over the Easter break — and Marsden Rotorua turned out to be a great surprise! At around $108/night, we were expecting the bare basics, but the location was super convenient and the facilities were much more modern than we anticipated. The room was clean and functional, and worked really well for a family stay. We came prepared with our own cutlery, coffee decanter, and Google dongle/remote, which worked great with their quality Samsung TV — perfect for relaxing in the evenings. The room also had a heat pump with heat, cool, fan, dry, and swing functions, which made it easy to stay comfortable throughout our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful — they even lent us an extension cord when we asked, which was much appreciated. Overall, it exceeded our expectations and turned out to be excellent economical home base for our stay.

The condition of the property was run down and dated. Dining room was closed as was pool area... Rooms bathroom was ok except show drain was dirty and black and toilet brush was filthy (handle broken off brush and orange stains inside). Limited crockery, no cutlery. Kettle only, no other facilities. On a par with other hotels we stayed at over a 2 week period, it was extremely average.

Room was nicely rennovated and spacious but facilities were all out of order when we arrived. No swimming pool or dining. Location was top notch. Bed linen material was extremely noisey so not great if you want a good nights sleep. It kept making rustling sounds with any slight movement. We struggled to sleep with 2x queen beds and 4 people. Bedsheets had stains on them. Staff was extremely rude after someone had parked in our spot, she just left us hanging there after 7pm and just left for the evening.
