Nice property, problem with smoke alarm
This was the second time my friend and I stayed here. We like this property because it has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. But this time, when we arrived, the smoke alarm was beeping and saying “low battery” once a minute.I sent a message to the property manager who told me he couldn’t come over and no one would be able to help until the morning. He suggested we stand on a table and try to turn off the alarm, which, insanely, we tried. But we couldn’t do it.After much back and forth via the app and text messages, almost two hours had gone by, and the property manager was still saying he couldn’t come over. The next time he texted, I was on the phone with VRBO, and I texted him back to say I was on the phone with VRBO. Next thing I know, he said he’d be over in 10 minutes.He did come and fix the alarm. He was nice, charming even, but this was not a great start to my birthday weekend. I didn’t have a way to reach the owner directly or I would have done that. I would love to see a partial refund for the aggravation and the loss of two hours of my vacation. The property is nice (except for the photo frames with nothing or the pictures they came with in them). The house next door was in a fire, but you can’t see it from inside the unit. There is an EV charging station around the corner, which I used. The first time we stayed here, we were quite pleased. We probably would have been this time, too, if it weren’t for the smoke alarm incident.
