The property

Magnificent residence of the XIXth century having belonged to the family of the painter Alfred Marinier. Listed in the heritage of the Breton coast, its neo-gothic, neo-Romanesque styles make it a remarkable architectural building, made of Saint-Cast stones. Entirely renovated inside in the respect of the great volumes of the time but with a modern functionality. You will find there the very warm atmosphere of a family house which will welcome you with its original waxed parquet floors, its large living room with its billiard table and its large fireplace, its more intimate small lounge/library, its large table in the dining room, its perfectly equipped kitchen and its large bedrooms equipped with retro bathrooms. Everything is there, the smells, the materials, the sounds, the style to feel good. It has for vocation to welcome a family reunion, a parenthesis between friends, a place out of time, with WIFI all the same. Its situation, with a panoramic view on the beach, the sea, the countryside, a few steps from the sailing station, you will reach it by a staircase from the property. Close to the shops but far from the noises of the center, close to tennis, golf and horse riding center. In the sunshine, you will have breakfast, lunch or dinner on one of the tables spread out on the terraces around the house. The whole in a 4000 m² park planted with lush vegetation you will enjoy the slightest ray of sunshine, well sheltered on the south-facing sunbathing terrace.

Wonderful St Cast

We just had a truly wonderful week in St Cast. The house was perfect for our two families with teenage children. The photos on the website don’t do it justice - the views and all the amenities of the house, the beach and the town of St Cast all add up to a fantastic place to vacation. And Gilles, the owner, couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Highly recommended.

Beautiful House in a Great Location

Our group of old friends had a great week at this beautiful & characterful house. The spacious house easily accommodated 11 of us. The setting is lovely, with a mature garden, great sea views and a 3 minute stroll to the beach. We especially enjoyed the pool table and petanque piste. The town of St Cast is an easy 15 minute walk away, and there are plenty of great walks and beaches on this stretch of coast. We thoroughly recommend it for larger family or friends gatherings. The owner, Gilles, was friendly and helpful too.

Dream house

we spent 5 days in this house. We are a family of 12 people of different ages. The house served us well. Everyone found their place and felt good in this house. The house is well equipped. Highly recommend to anyone who comes to visit Brittany.

Lovely house very close to great beach

Absolutely lovely old house which is 3 mins walk from beach and 10 mins from town centre. Amazing views of the sea and beach from the property. Family that rented it were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic week at La Bertinière

We had a great week at the house which was really in top condition and showed the care that Gilles and his family have for the the property. There were 12 of us staying from three generations and the house provided ample space for bedrooms and also communal areas, including the large garden. St-Cast is also a lovely town with a nice beach. Gilles the owner was very responsive and it was nice to meet him at the house at the beginning and of our stay. 5 stars from all 12 guests!

Amazing view and property, charming town and beach

We spent 6 nights at this house in July. The owner, Gilles, was very responsive, and speaks very good English for those that stumble with French. He met us at the house and gave us a nice tour and was responsive to questions while we were staying at the house. The house was fantastic- plenty of space for 7 of us, a kitchen with a beautiful view, and several places inside and out to have our meals. It is located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking the beach. Our children, 9, 10, and 12 had a blast in the nice yard, but loved to walk down the hill to the beach most of all. Although we were there early in the summer season by European standards, there were activities at the beach including kids clubs, wind surfing, paddle boarding, sailing. The proximity to the beach and charming town were a highlight. There are several restaurants/bars and cafes that are less than a mile walk, and there is both a wonderful butcher and bakery nearby as well. A short drive to a large grocery is also nice. The house is also well situated to travel in the region, including St Malo and Mont Saint-Michel. The house was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cookware. The grill works well, but gets very hot quickly, so be careful to watch your food. There is an additional fee for towels/linen usage, but certainly worth it. It took us a couple of days to fully understand how to correctly run the washing machine, so I would ask Gilles for a tutorial upon arrival. We got our deposit back promptly upon our return home. The only thing that would prevent me from returning to this wonderful property next year would be a desire to see another part of France with our children. Thank you, Gilles, for a memorable experience.

We thoroughly recommend the house and the region.

The house is a large, rambling house, both charming and comfortable. It was exactly what we needed for our party of nine adults. There was ample space for communal activities or private living. Pool playing was a very popular activity. The garden spaces were used extensively, especially the garden deck. The views from all rooms were lovely. The property is a two minute walk to the sandy local beach and about a 12 minute walk to the local village. It is a very good base to explore the surrounding region by car or by bike. We bought all supplies from the town shops or from the Monday market. The hosts were extremely helpful, they met us on arrival and drove us to the train at St Malo when there were transport problems at the end of our stay. We would be delighted to stay there again. New year in La Bertiniere

Magnificent old house with generous living accommodation. We spent a very relaxing week with extended family and new grandchild. Suburb location with easy access to beach and village. Restaurants were varied and of a good standard and bars were friendly. Great for coastal walks and close proximity to historic towns. The plumbing sometimes plays up during showering and only one of the bedrooms has complete en suite facilities. The owners are extremely fond of the house and this is evident, improvements are in progress to improve the bathroom facilities. We all thoroughly enjoyed the house so the few oddities easily forgiven.

Séjour en Bretagne pluvieux mais chaleureux

Grande maison, proche de la mer avec une vue magnifique. Le temps étaient pluvieux alors nous avons bien pu profiter de cette grande maison, de sa cheminée et du billard. Entre deux averses aussi de la plage et du terrain de boules. Parfait pour des retrouvaille en famille!

Magnifique séjour en Bretagne

Un séjour tout confort hors du temps

Difficile de savoir par quoi commencer tellement notre séjour a en tous points été formidable. De la communication avec les propriétaires, à l'accueil sur place à notre arrivée, à leur disponibilité et arrangements divers pendant notre séjour pour répondre à nos questions, bref tout a été formidable. Vous aimez les endroits un peu hors du temps, alliant le tout confort (électroménager, literie et équipements) à l'authenticité et l'âme d'une vieille bâtisse, pour vous ressourcer, passer du temps vrai avec votre famille ou vos amis, cet endroit ne pourra que répondre à vos attentes. Excellent séjour

Nous avons passé une super semaine dans cette belle propriété de la fin du 19ème siècle très calme et très ensoleillée.
