La Garenne is a beautiful fortified farmhouse dating from the 16th century, nestled among vineyards and sunflower fields in a tranquil hamlet in Charente-Maritime, western France. It is the perfect escape for those seeking peace, relaxation, and the authentic charm of the French countryside.
The Aulnay Forest is just a short walk or cycle away, and the surrounding countryside offers miles of scenic trails and tracks to explore. The nearby town of Aulnay-de-Saintonge, only 8 minutes by car, has everything you need, including a supermarket, weekly market, bakery, and traditional bistro. The historic town of Saint-Jean-d’Angély is just a 20-minute drive away, offering a wider selection of shops, restaurants, and attractions.
Rosier is a charming 2-bedroom gîte renovated to retain the French history and charm of what was once a barn. From your private patio, you enter through French doors into an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining room with exposed Charentaise stone beams and walls. On the ground floor, you will also find a separate WC. A staircase takes you to the first floor and two good-sized bedrooms and a family bathroom. From both bedrooms, you have views of the swimming pools and the countryside.
There is a private patio to the front of the gîte overlooking the garden and swimming pools, with seating, a table, and a barbecue.
There are two heated swimming pools enclosed with a fence and security barrier. There are plenty of loungers and a shaded area with a sofa around the large swimming pool.
Children love the freedom in the secure enclosed garden with a playground and many activities, as well as the two swimming pools. One of the swimming pools is shallow and specially designed for younger children.
