Stay in the heart of downtown, minutes from the Pearl! There's something for everyone—from Fun (air hockey, calf roping, corn hole, board games, etc.) to Relaxation (high-speed WiFi, 60 inch Smart TV, in-home Massages) to Convenience (close to everything!). A full kitchen, outdoor grill & coffee bar await your arrival. Kid & Dog friendly!

This home offers luxury living near all the action! Bedrooms are arranged for ultimate privacy and comfort:

- Both bathrooms offer shampoo, conditioner and body soap. A Poopourri spray bottle also sits atop each commode!

For your peace of mind, the property is fully-fenced and offers off-street tandem parking in our gated driveway. A security system is also in use. We have three exterior cameras for our property, as it's vacant from time-to-time. Cameras cover the front porch (doorbell camera), front yard and back yard. The Nest doorbell blinks white when activity is detected.

We are licensed by the City of San Antonio & Bexar County, which charges a Hotel Occupancy Tax. If you see added fees to your total, it's due to these mandatory taxes.

Government Hill is one of San Antonio's oldest neighborhoods. This tightly-knit community is close to EVERYTHING Downtown: Pearl, the Alamo, Riverwalk, Convention Center, San Antonio Zoo, Museums, Trinity University, UIW, Alamo Heights, the AT&T Center & more! It's less than 9 minutes to the Airport, without traffic.

It's integrally linked to Fort Sam Houston; in fact, you can often hear "Taps" from the front porch. Most Government Hill residents have owned their homes for generations; ours is the only rental on the block. The neighborhood is a mix of old historic mansions, newly updated homes (like ours), and some that are in need of TLC.

The Hot Tamale house was very comfortable and in a convenient location to get to the Pearl or downtown San Antonio. The house had everything we needed for our stay, allowing us to cook, barbecue, relax and play games with our family. Laura was great with communication and was very clear in the instructions.

Great location, wonderful house

The spot is centrally located, making it easy to get downtown, the Pearl, the airport, etc. The house well taken care of. Our family really enjoyed the games and toys, outdoor space, etc. Bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely done. For folks visiting San Antonio for vacation, highly recommend this house!

Short Get Away

This house was perfect for our little family. Our boys practically lived in the game room and were able to share the second bedroom with bunk beds and attached bath. The location of the house allowed us to go places very easily and quickly. We’d love to come back and stay again! The house is absolutely beautiful and geared towards family.

Grad celebration

Laura was such a tremendous help. We had our booking cancel the night before arrival and Laura was able to accommodate us on VERY short notice. The house was clean and had lots of games and toddler supplies to keep all entertained. The location was perfect for spending time at the Pearl and Fort Sam Houston. The neighborhood is definitely in transition but it was quiet all but Saturday night and we never felt unsafe. I would definitely stay on our next visit to San Antonio.

Beautiful, well-equipped home

Spacious, tastefully updated bungalow home; it is the most thoughtfully equipped and comfortable VRBO we have stayed in. Laura was very welcoming and responsive. The house is walking distance to the Pearl. The backyard is lovely, with room for kids to play, a sitting area and a large table for outdoor dining. There also are toys, games and tableware for kids. We will be back!

Fabulous Stay with Friends

The Hot Tamale exceeded our expectations. The location is an easy Uber ride from all the San Antonio airport and all the attractions listed in Laura's invaluable guide book. The house was the cleanest VRBO property we have stayed in and the most well stocked. Bedding and linens were top quality and plentiful. Everything we needed for our stay was there, I highly recommend The Hot Tamale.

Amazing!

We had the best time while here! We normally stay at a hotel in San Antonio for a few days as our halfway mark to South Padre Island. We decided to stay at a VRBO listing this year, rather than a hotel, and we could not have been more pleased! It’s conveniently placed and was accommodating from sleeping space, toiletries, kitchenware, to outside activities. The owners communicated very well and we did not have a question that they couldn’t answer. We will definitely recommend and hopefully will be staying again in the future!

Great for a short girls weekend!

Favorite VRBO!

I've stayed in over 50 different VRBO properties, and this one is my all-time favorite! The location and proximity to the Pearl and local neighborhood restaurants is perfect, the house is even more adorable (and feels much bigger) in person, and the host was incredibly responsive. The house is packed with so many amenities, fun games, and simple pleasures to make your stay easier (coffee, creamer, toiletries, etc.). You can tell the owner/host takes a lot of pride in creating a personal and welcoming experience and I would definitely stay there again!

What a place!

We rented this property for my sisters bachelorette party. It was so cute! Really clean, house was stocked with everything we needed. Even coffee! Of course we had to get groceries, easily delivered by HEB, but we did not need a single appliance. Beds were so comfortable and everything was so nice when we arrived. Located within 10-15 minutes of everything. I would Come back here for just a family stay too. Our overall experience was wonderful.

Awesome experience!

We throughly enjoyed our stay in San Antonio at the Hot Tamale. It has such a unique charm! The binder that was put together for guests was extremely helpful, and we used the recommendations for groceries, restaurants and more! The atmosphere was inviting, the beds were comfortable, and it was very clean. Laura was very accessible and answered all our questions! We loved our stay and would highly recommend this VRBO.

Family Get-Away

This was the perfect get-away for my family. Everything we needed was provided to have a comfortable care free time in San Antonio. Lots of games, inside and outside, swings in the shade and a layout that brings the family together. Laura was quick to answer questions and we felt so welcome.
