Very very small room for two people and the room/carpet had a funky smell. Had to leave the windows open for the whole 2 days. Bathroom was nice. Parking can be tricky if you have a SUV.

Misleading pictured and rating

The stay was okay, at best. The pictures displayed–while somewhat accurate–seemed attractive. However, the room itself and furniture were dated. The room looked better in the pictures Everything about the room itself looked like it was from the 90’s. Sure, there was some modernization to the bathroom but that was it. The bed was simply too soft, to the point that it might as well be a water bed. Of course, all the electronics were up to date. But overall, not a comfortable experience. For the 8.8 rating that this place had, I felt a little misled. With all do respect, this stay felt like a cozy version of a motel 6. I would rate this a 6 at best and thats only because the customer service was great. The rooms could use some remodeling, especially the beds. You can still have a cozy feel while having modern furniture. Get rid of the carpet too. It looked old I made sure to inly walk around in sandals because of how dated it looked. Its a hood stay for a short trip. But it could have been a lot better.

Fantastic

Marina was super clean and the amount of flowers is great to the senses. Tim is super personable and friendly. For an old hotel it still was quaint but had a modern feel. We stayed inside in the courtyard area which was quite quiet. I am sure the outside street rooms are a tad loud at times because of street traffic. The location is great for food and the Presidio.

The owners have done a great job of remodeling and updating the property. The room was clean and bathroom has been recently remodeled. The kitchen was well equipped but we were only there overnight so we didn’t use much. The reason I couldn’t rate 5 stars is because we were right on Lombard street which was very noisy all night. Be careful which room you choose as there are several that are on Lombard Street. Your garage will also be on Lombard street which is not easy to get into with an SUV in rush hour traffic 😳 Many of the rooms are in the courtyard area off the street and these would be a better choice. The staff was very helpful and I bet they would help you choose the best room if you call. The property is walking distance to many great restaurants and cafes.

Convenient and friendly staff

We booked a trip to San Francisco on a whim, and the Marina Motel had the best price for a last-minute 4-night stay. It was conveniently located for all the things we wanted to explore. Although the traffic noise was quite literally right outside the window, for what it was worth it was an easy and nice accommodation for us.

Picked this property for the quieter location - Even though our suite was on the street, the bedroom faced the quiet courtyard, so once the door was shut noise was minimal. Easy walking distance to good coffee and supermarket / which had a great range of fresh and prepackaged options - perfect for the kitchenette

Nice motel in the Marina district

Very cool motel; lots of plants and gardens, rooms nice, bathrooms remodeled, comfortable beds. A bit noisy from the adjoining room.

Good location, cute property, good price comparatively speaking, annd onsite free parking. They need to update TV services to include cable and streaming. It was a bummer. Also WiFi spotty and slow.
