This was a last minute booking and it was overall "fine", but wouldn't stay here again and people should know before they book. They made a huge deal about this "OneKey" app that would unlock the room, no problem, I've used it before, but when we got to our room, the door didn't even have the door unlock pad. So the kid at the front desk gave us a physical key, but also said that if we lost it we'd have to pay extra for it (not like it was our choice to not use the app). Room was ok, bed was comfy, but there is no A/C just an FYI for others. We opened the window and used a fan and it was comfortable.....but BE AWARE that the window did not have a screen and was unlocked....it's a huge window, like 4-5 feet across and kids could definitely fall out. The TV was horrible too....not like we were in the room a lot, but when we wanted to just settle in and watch something dumb, the TV constantly reverted back to "demo mode" and took a lot of tinkering to figure out.Constantly re-logging back into the Wifi....which if you are on the Wifi, so is everyone else with the same account, so you can basibally walk around and other people's YouTube were popping up on my phone...could literally control other room's TV with my phone. Not Good.

For the value, I don't think I could beat this place. The room was clean, linens and bed were comfy, water got hot, and I enjoy a free cup of Kirkland Signature in the morning as much as the next Costco member. The location was perfect for me, and while the neighborhood is loud (there's a cocktail bar connected to the hotel-- with outside patio) I had restful sleep.

Could've been a little bit cleaner. Not bad though. I appreciated the water cooler and tea downstairs. Great location and decent price. The bar downstairs was super loud the first night (private event) but not bad the other nights. The elevator was working but is a little awkward with big heavy luggage.

Property was pretty clean. Room was cozy for two of us. If we were planning a longer stay, I would likely look for something a bit more spacious. The street outside our window was pretty loud with large groups of people partying until fairly early in the morning. It was what we needed for the price so all in all happy with the stay.

It’s old and quirky, and if you’re prepared for that, it’s fine. No AC.

I stayed at Hotel Des Arts from 9/2-4, 2025. I was in town to attend a conference and knew I would not be spending much time in my hotel. Knowing this, I booked a hotel based on vicinity to the main and surrounding events taking place throughout the week, rather than based on amenities. While the hotel staff were very accommodating with my early check in and late checkout requests and responsive to messages I sent, you do not book this hotel if you are used to certain luxuries in your hotel. Despite a generally okay stay, I can’t get over a few of the things I had to deal with. The only reason I even stayed the 2 nights I did was a lack of availability at other locations due to the size of the conference. I did not have an option to move. In the photos you will see the condition of the room upon my arrival, what you won’t see is that the room was lacking AC or a fan, so I had to open the windows. There were no screens on any windows on my room, and I did not see any on other windows. Staying on the 5th floor with no sort of window protection, I hope someone doesn’t bring their child! In addition to a bloody pillow, I found what I thought was a harmless bug crawling in the bed Wednesday morning, however, I found another one Thursday morning and awoke to my body being covered in dozens of itchy welts. Turns out they were bed bugs. I quickly checked and packed my belongings and checked out (originally had requested a 12pm checkout and was out before 10am). The hotel was alerted.

Check-in: online key didn’t work but got physical key. Kitchen facilities: they told me via text there was a fridge in my room, but there wasn’t? Ice bucket but no ice machine lol. I did enjoy the tea and water downstairs. Transport access: Used st. Mary’s parking (affordable) and lucked out with street parking. The radiator started leaking randomly, they swiftly moved us to another room but the view was into 4 other people’s rooms and lacked privacy.. so we fixed the radiator by turning it on a bit and that helped the leak and noise and stayed in our original room. Would stay here again and recommended to others. Pictures are of the view from the room and some nearby street views.

There’s no A/C. Some of the rooms have in-room showers, but some do not. There bed was super old and very thin. It’s neat and historic, but not somewhere I would return to.

Nice little spot for a work related trip

This is a boutique hotel in an old building and I enjoyed my two week stay. Not all rooms have a refrigerator, so make sure you confirm. The help I received during my stay was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. Taking strolls in Chinatown after work was a nice wind-down from the day, as well as the nearby restaurants (check out Leleka, Today Food, Nomu & the ice cream shop around the corner). If old buildings aren’t your thing, find something corporate.

Low cost at a cost

This property saves time using an electronic key, which is glitchy and there are not staff to assist much of the time. The elevator is old and has a heavy gate which was hard for my family member. They have emergency numbers listed to help and never answered either. Was able to get the key to work but with much risk to be stuck. The last day I had to help a person in a wheel chair leave the hotel because the mobility door wouldn’t work, he would have been stuck backing up to a road with a hill at great risk as there were no staff on a Saturday at 11 am to assist. Stay here at your own risk, not for the mobility impaired, and don’t arrive late.
