I see why the reviews are so good. It's an excellent value. The place was clean, quiet, and felt safe. The room looked like it had been recently remodeled. There is ample free parking. Three coffee spots are within a 3-6 minute walk. Plus, it's an easy walk, approx. 8-10 minutes to downtown restaurants.

Excellent less expensive option & super convenient location at the end of downtown. Rooms are very clean & updated. Loved that I could walk to downtown coffee, restaurants and shops without using my car.

The staff is always super lovely, my 3rd stay there now. Super easy access to downtown, no need for a car usually. 5 min's Lyft to Amtrak. Convenience store right across the street to grab n go for the rooms fridge, always parking, good room overall. My one sad experience on this last visit....$25 fee for early check-in, only 1 hour early, for a room that was already clean and done. Or $5 to just drop 1 small bag if I had waited for the room. Didn't love that, but still a great stay in SLO!

The room had a horrible smell. Largely unidentifiable, but something between a cleaning agent and mold. The walls are thin, as is the ceiling, and we were awakened several times by guests above and beside us. Extremely tiny rooms.
