I’m disabled and there were over 10 stone steps to get to the front door and 23 steps up to the second floor. The charming front desk employee on 2/17 carried by bag up then back down the steps since I had an early morning train before they reopened st 8 am. We are regulars to the SLO area, and rarely stay in hotels. Stayed here for a weekend trip for a wedding and it was great! Clean, big rooms. Our room was off the common area, but it was not loud at all. We had a private patio off our room. It's an old building, so don't expect the most modern rooms and amenities. If you're alright with that, I highly recommend staying at Garden Street Inn.

The ground floor room, “The Lovers” is in an extremely awkward room set off from the main sitting room. You can hear every word said out there which means they can hear everything in your room. This is the ADA accessible room, and there is a chair lift, but it is also marketed as one of the more expensive rooms. Don’t be fooled. Also, the folks we were traveling with were offered wine, and we were not. Not sure what that was about. We could also hear the bed sqeaking in the room above us and every extremely loud flush. We’re apartment dwellers not easily cowed by the sounds of humanity, but even we were put off by this experience. You also have to park two blocks away or pay a steep price for city garage parking. Great location, but not worth it.

first of all when we went online, we were looking for a hotel, when we got there it was a bed-and-breakfast, it was a Tuesday and yet we could not check into our room till 4 o’clock because our front desk person just felt like pulling a power trip, we decided not to stay there when we found out we couldn’t even park our car on ground grounds. I have a brand new vehicle. I was not going to put it in a public lot a few blocks away, this place sucks.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The location was good. There is no parking available so I had to pay to park in a public garage ($16.00 for overnight) or find street parking in the residential area a few blocks away.

Their breakfasts were honestly the highlight of my stay in SLO. It represented the area very well, being wholesome and worldly. Fantastic job!
