Okay for a quick stop: clean and somewhat updated

We stayed overnight for a quick trip to see our student at CP-SLO and picked it for the price (as other hotels were higher - turned out it was the weekend before St. Patrick's Day and lots of young people come into town for the "celebration"). I'd read reviews, so knew it was an older property. The room was clean, bathroom clean and updated. Room decor was newer but a bit odd. The big issues for us were: back doors to the building were indeed difficult to open; we finally were walking to the front desk for help when we ran into the guy who helped me when zi checked in and he took us to SHOW US THE TRICK (there was a small sign on the door handle we hadn't seen in the dark). But no fun to be out in the dark and cold trying to figure it out. They need BIGGER signage! Second issue was the young people near us who were loud until 2:30 am - lucky us...there were lots of young people (not unexpected) and the young men near us were disrespectful with their noise/loud yelling/talking. When we checked out in the morning, I mentioned it and the desk guy said he'd talked to them. Still not a great night's sleep - if it had gone on longer, I probably would have called the front desk. I knew this was a possibility and rolled the dice - and lost! :(

The front desk help was very helpful and was kind. The condition of the property wasn’t what we were expecting. It was run down and I didn’t feel safe. The picture we saw of the rooms and property were not the same.We were given another room that wasn’t much better so we left and did not stay.

Don't be swayed by the photos. The rooms are out dated and stinks. Heater blows cool air. Carpets are so old, the 80's are still lingering. Stains on pillow case. Disgusting, thats the only thing that can describe the rooms. The staffs there, dont budge for anything. If you come back late from an outing, don't expect the front desk to accommodate you. At this hour, you better wait til morning. The motel 6 across the street looks better. Services are probably better. They don't supply anything after dark. Nobody works after dark. House keeping don't clean and/or supply the rooms if you stay more the a night. All I gotta say is, WORST HOTEL EVER!! Just don't bother. Who knows, maybe they'll change after seeing this. Maybe not. The photos on the site is flashy. Makes you wonder why it was taken at night. Surprise surprise!

Ok of a stay.

Stay was ok. Room could have used a good cleaning the floors had hair and dirt on them. We also found hair on the bed and sink area that wasn’t ours. Also when we asked for extra towels from the cleaning lady we were told we were already given enough note we had two towels and there were 3 females in our room. We ended up getting more towels only cause I complained to the front desk people.

Hotel signs say no smoking in rooms but our room smelt like weed and there ended up being a bag of marijuana under the bed, all they did was grab the bag and left, room still smelt and with a pregnant wife did not go well, decent price but very un acceptable service by the manager.

Pleasantly surprised

When we pulled up it didn't seem like much but we were very wrong. It was very nice inside. The customer service was excellent. No issues at all when checking in or out. The room was very well cleaned and completely updated. We will definitely be staying again. Location was great also. Close to shopping and dinning.

When you first see the front of the hotel you think that the hotel is abandoned (yes, the front of the hotel looks that bad). I was about to suggest to my husband we find another hotel but many of the reviews were positive and I got a great deal. This hotel could definitely use a facelift. Maybe a paint job and a little landscaping. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind. The hallway inside looked very nice. But, the furniture in the room was worn out and out dated but seemed clean. The bathroom was clean except for a part of the rim around the bottom of the toilet. I think it was rust. Although, I do believe there’s a cleaning treatment for rust. On the wall the tissue box cover also had rust all over it, and that should have been replaced before another guest was placed in that room. The floors were hardwood, and made my feet very uncomfortable since it was so cold. I’m just glad I brought slippers otherwise I would have been miserable. The bed was made nicely and was very comfortable. We didn’t get to use the jacuzzi, but the waterfall landscaping next to it and the lighting around it was very cool, and this is a definite plus for the hotel. Personally, I wouldn’t stay here again unless they’re able to make the changes I suggested. If you’re on a budget this is an affordable hotel, but if you can afford to pay a little more for a better hotel than I recommend you do that for your piece of mind.
