Great stay

We had a lovely time staying at Francesca’s beautiful property. The check in process was super easy and the grounds and property were immaculate and super clean. Any issues that we had were dealt with very quickly by Francesca and she also helped to organise a chef to come and cook for us. We were a little short in wine glasses for such a big property but we thought that was due to the fact that we were there at the end of the season. All in all a great stay. 5 stars.

Beautiful trulli, beautiful pool and grounds.. Inside needs a bit more tlc, mattresses need renewing, two pillows per person please! Generally the interior of the property needs an upgrade and the inventory needs checking, wine glasses, pepper grinder, salad spinner? We had a lovely time, but would suggest they put a name plate on property gate and use what 3 words to help you find it.

Great house, can definitely recommend. There were a few outages with toilet and over/stove but it was quickly fixed and the owner was fast in responding. Great outdoor areas and a cosy house.

Beautiful house - even better than I had hoped for

We had a wonderful time at Francesca and Angelo's house. It feels very secluded, as if you are surrounded by forest. The grounds are spacious and very well tended, with orchards of fruit trees: pomegranate, apple, almond, walnut, fig, persimmon, kiwi... The kids loved being there so much that they didn't want to leave to explore the surrounding area but there is plenty to see and do within half an hour. Everything inside was spotless and it's very well appointed. We'd love to go back some time...

Properly was perfect

The property was very lovely and the beds were comfortable which is key for me. The location was very close to town but you do have to drop a point on google map to find it as it’s doesn't show on the GPS. Francesca and her husband were very very helpful and attentive . Recommend highly

Wonderful, relaxing, family break

What a wonderful place this trullo is! The house is beautifully presented, well equipped and with everything you need to enjoy days relaxing in the amazing outdoor areas and pool. We got the pizza oven going and enjoyed the many shady areas, much needed in the summer heat. Local facilities were very good. Francesca and her son were most welcoming and there for us if anything needed. Thank you!

A Beautiful, Peaceful Stay in a Lovely Trullo in Puglia

Trullo La Petra Nera is a completely beautiful place to stay in a part of Italy we had not visited before. Our family of 4 (including 2 grown up, freeloading children) had a brilliant 2 week holiday in Italy. After 3 busy days in Naples and Pompei we arrived at the Trullo for a more relaxing 11 days and were not disappointed. The Trullo is amazing - inside and out. The privacy, space and layout of the grounds and pool were what we were looking for and enjoyed the most. A lot of thought has gone into the design and layout of the outside areas as well as the interiors - with multiple large and comfortable terraces and a perfect pool. If peace in lovely surroundings is what you are looking for then this is hard to beat. The Trullo itself is an amazing and cool building that is very well looked-after. Everything just worked as it should and Francesca was just a whatsapp away for any questions we had. After a busy time in Naples we didn't need a lot to do but there are plenty of nice places to visit and you definitely need a car. Ostuni, a 20 minute drive away, was our favourite evening destination to eat - the best combination for us of a pretty, lively central square with lots of places to eat, drink and watch the world go by. Go there at the beginning of your stay and you'll go back again. We tried a few of the beaches near Ostuni and liked the grand-sounding "White Ostuni Beach Club" best - just a few euros to park and easy to rent umbrellas and beds. It wasn't crowded in July and there's a nice beach bar set back in the dunes. Alberobello is well worth a visit....especially in the evening when the Trulli are illuminated. Its touristy but like nothing you'll see anywhere else. Lecce (the "Florence of the South"), in the other direction, is a good day trip too. The only thing stopping me giving a full 5-star rating was the slightly disappointing and less-than-obvious fee for "final cleaning and linen rental", in cash, that is buried in the description of the property and not included in the payments section. If, like me, you booked using the HomeAway App its not there at all - you have to go to the full web site to even see it. The listing says linen and towels are provided so I don't expect to have to pay an additional fee for their "rental". My feedback for the owners is: please don't surprise your guests near the end of their stay - build this fee into the rental or move it clearly to the Payments section. And thank you!

A lovely exterior, but complicated interior-check layout beforehand.

Whilst the villa was lovely externally, the interior of the property did not have 3 entirely separate bedrooms which meant either walking through from one bedroom through another or going outside and walking right round the villa to either the front or back doors to get inside. Two of the bedrooms really should not be considered other than for very close family/friends as each of the bedrooms share a dressing room (with only a curtain dividing them and the second bathroom was down a corridor. This made it difficult for those having to share personal space which tempered the overall experience. This could be rectified by providing a floor plan of the interior on the website. The grounds were lovely but the placing of plant pots on the paths and gravel areas made it hazardous at night, with an injury caused to one of our party. There were no instructions on how to use the house alarm which created difficulty, but we understand that the owner now has this in hand.

Beautiful house with large pool and grounds

We had a truly lovely holiday here. The house is very well equipped, the grounds are huge and the pool both large and scrupulously clean. The WiFi is fast enough to keep the teenagers happy. Local town is useful for groceries, pharmacy etc and has a small selection of nice restaurants. Highly recommended

this is a very beautiful house with lovely garden and pool.

The house is a very pretty converted trullo standing in beautiful green grounds in olive groves. It is very cool and peaceful inside. The gardens are large With many fruit trees, figs, plums, olives, and citrus fruits.The pool area is lovely with lots of different little areas in which to sit. It really is a Idyllic. There is an outdoor garden kitchen with a pizza oven which is lots of fun to use. House is very clean, fresh and well equipped and there are mosquito gauzes on the windows, which are useful. There are lots of interesting towns to visit nearby, including Ostuni and Ceglie massapica. SAN Michele Salentino is pleasant at night with its sociable piazza. We had a very restful holiday at the house and we were sorry to leave.

Stunning Villa in a beautiful location

We have just returned from Italy having spent 9 nights at his wonderful villa with our 2 adult daughters. After a delayed flight we arrived at San Michele very late at night, this was not a problem and Francesca arranged for her son to meet us and show us to the villa. If you are looking for a beautiful place to get away from it all then this is the place for you. The villa is just as it looks in the photos, spotlessly clean with everything you could need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The extensive gardens are immaculately kept with fruit trees and grape vines, we very much enjoyed the grapes! In the morning we went into the local town (5 minute drive) and stocked up on fresh bread, meat and fruit and vegetables and then spent the day lounging by the pool. Evenings were spent in the amazing outdoor kitchen and seating area, making pizza, having bbq's and playing games. The perfect place to relax and unwind, I can't recommend it highly enough and would definitely go back. Thank you Francesca and family .. we had a wonderful time at your villa!!

Loved our stay in San Michele. Trullo was classic Puglia and the outside area with pizza oven and BBQ the perfect place to hang out, experiment with our cooking, play cards and sit and gaze at the beautiful garden. It is also well placed, near the beautiful hilly towns like Ostuni but with both coasts within reach. Thank you Francesca and your sweet son Piero.

A beautiful house, lovely restful garden, great pool, and wonderful shady areas to rest and eat in

We thought this was a little paradise with a great variety of shaded areas ideal for such a hot place. After seeing local towns and sights in the mornings we took refuge at Petra Nera in the afternoons and evenings. We made our own pizza in the wood fired oven, swam lots, and took refuge in the cool house in the heat of the day (it was 40 degrees on several days during our stay in early July). The house was wonderfully well stocked, with at least 3 bottles of good olive oil, provisions in the fridge and food cupboard, and excellent cooking equipment, as well as plums, blackberries and zucchini from the orto. We loved the outdoor kitchen and dining area which was a beautiful place to linger in the evenings. Thank you Francesca and Angelo.

La maison de Marie est magnifiquement rénovée avec un jardin superbe et des extérieurs très agréables. Nous n'avons pas pu pleinement profiter car la météo en ce début avril était particulièrement fraiche et nous sommes convaincus de revenir à une période un peu plus chaude pour profiter de la piscine, du salon et de la cuisine extérieur qui sont magnifiques. L'accueil de Marie la propriétaire a été super, elle nous a donné plein de bons conseils sur la région et nous a mis en contact avec une très gentille dame avec qui nous avons fait nos orichiete avec les enfants. L'emplacement de la maison est très bien pour visiter les Pouilles, très central pour permettre de visiter sans trop d'heures de route Lecce comme la vallée d'Istria et assez proche d'Ostuni qui est super sympa. Nous reviendrons c'est certain.

Beautiful Trulli, huge garden, lovely place!

We stayed for a week in the Trulli, with a family of 5 people. We loved the huge garden, lots of shaded or sunny places to sit down or take a nap. Lots of privacy. We loved the two different large tables underneath the wooden outdoor roof. The outdoor kitchen is amazing! Good bbq grill and a proper wood pizza oven! San Michele is at 5 min drive to find a supermarket with everything you need. The indoor areas are a little outdated but you spend most of the time outside, so no worries for us. Lovely place to explore Puglia!

Toller Trulli mit wunderschöner Außenanlage

Das Haus ist geräumig, hat mehrere Bäder und einen super gepflegten Außenbereich mit mehreren Sitzmöglichkeiten. Der Pool ist groß und sehr gepflegt. Die Schlafzimmer haben alle einen eigenen Ausgang in den Garten, aber leider waren nicht alle Schlüssel für diese Türen vorhanden. Wenn man die Türen nicht nutzen kann, muss man die danebenliegenden Schlafzimmer durchqueren, was etwas ungünstig ist, aber machbar. Die Küchenausstattung könnte etwas umfangreicher sein für die Größe des Hauses. Überhaupt ist die Ausstattung im Innenbereich nicht ganz so komfortabel, dafür der Außenbereich aber genial! Und es gibt einen Geschirrspüler, das ist toll! Ebenfalls toll ist die Außenküche mit Kühlschrank, Herd und Grill. Nicht so toll fanden wir, daß weitere Kosten angefallen sind für Strom, Wasser, Müll usw., die bei Buchung nicht ersichtlich waren. Hierfür mussten wir nochmal 150,- EUR entrichten. Wir empfehlen, dies gleich bei Buchung mit aufzuführen. Danke für die schöne Zeit, die wir in diesem Haus verbringen durften!
