V clean and basic hotel in a residential area

Whilst I've found the hotel to be really comfortable and clean, my local friends would always warn me not to walk around the area in the evening. I have not had any issues there and the location of the hotel actually seemed rather close and walking distance to the old town and transport links. Therein could lie the problem as middle class local generally have a set of impressions of "safe zones" and the particular "Colonia" this hotel falls into is not on the list. I've not personally had issue with that and have found the stay comfortable and good value for money. There isn't generally much to do around the area after dark though - but the staff are lovely in directing you on public transport or calling you a cab. They also have strict rules against guests having visitors in the rooms.
