Amazing views. Not a super huge property so it feels cozy and homy. The staff are super nice and helpful. They even have a really cool diner right next to it so you don't have to go far to grab a bite. Of course, the view of the ocean is the best part. 10/10 hotel.

Cavalier Resort is wonderful! Not only was the staff friendly and welcoming but the amenities really offer a pleasant touch. We especially enjoyed the lawn games and the close proximity to the ‘ocean front’. Waking up to a morning walk with our pup while listening to the ocean waves was a nice departure from the noise we’re used to in LA! I will definitely stay here again when I’m in the area! Thank you!

Older hotel in need of renovations with great view

Older hotel that is not evident in pictures online. Furnishings and carpet worn out. Room was not very clean - sliding door had handprints from children and outside had not been cleaned in some time making it difficult to see the ocean view. Fireplace odor in room was very strong. Hair found in sheets when pulled back, but the bed was made. Sink faucet handle did not turn off without some force. Older hotel that really needs updating and especially for the price paid per night. Upon notice to the hotel about the sheets and sliding door cleanliness, the staff was prompt in changing the bed sheets and cleaning the glass door. The maintenance person was very professional and nice. The fireplace odor is standard I was told by the front desk. Something that should be noted online so guests are aware when booking. Ocean view was fabulous, the restaurant was good and staff were great. However, for the cost and the dated rooms, I likely will not stay here again.

Comfortable stay. Bed and amenities were nice. My room had a fireplace. Close to Hearst castle. Would stay here again, except wouldn’t eat in the restaurant. Wanting to have the Hearst beef, I ordered a medium rare Hearst burger. It was well done. Sent it back but it came out well done again. Maybe order something they can’t overcook

Location was excellent. Room was good size. View was amazing. Staff was helpful. Price was very reasonable. The exterior and interior definitely could use an update, door and building needs new paint, bathroom had a broken toilet seat, also the base boards of the bathroom were in need of repais. I arrived around 2:30 to check in and my room was not ready. I went to lunch and came back just before four which is check in time and my room was still not ready. I was told both times I would get a call so I left again and killed 2 more hours, coming back at six and was told they had forgotten to call me. I was given a breakfast voucher as an apology. Very understaffed. The property is absolutely beautiful. I’ve stayed here before and it’s unbeatable management just needs to up their staff.
