The view of the ocean was the best part of this trip. The room was a very low scoring OK. Room smelled musty. Bed was old and too soft. Coffee was stale. Pillows way too soft. Chairs in room were horrible. Had to take the pillows off the bed and use them as cushions for the chair. Restaurant was ok. Desert was the best part. Food was adequate. All in all this trip was a bust. 👎

While I asked for a room with a fireplace, I did not expect it to smell like a camp fire....they were kind enough to let us move into the room next door that still had fireplace but did not smell so strong like firewood. The staff was very pleasant and the room was comfortable and peaceful view of ocean. Restaurant was nice to have in the middle of what feels like "no where". Very convenient location while visiting the Hearst Castle.

The stay was great but I booked though Expedia and was charged 738.73 for 3 days and 2 nights. On the day of check out we were given a bill and charged 144.37. I asked what this was for and the staff person didn't explain it to me at all. We had room service witch cost 39.00 and a late check out of 40.00. i don't know what the 65.37 over was for... I had to fix the tv in the room apparently someone disconnected the cable from it. Next time maybe the motel 6 down the street. The wood they use for the in room fireplaces are particle board and burn very fast. We had to call the office for more wood several times. The rooms were a bit outdated I believe the room needed newer furnishings. We had an ocean front view with a large balcony witch was a great view.

Great location! Needs a facelift

Beautiful location, excellent service but definitely is due for an upgrade. Very outdated. Also was very disappointed with the tv selection, the tv was very dated would have preferred a smart tv since cable or satellite was not available. I hope they consider remodeling soon otherwise I think we will stay somewhere a bit more modern.

I liked the service. very polite staff. we asked to change the room due to being unhappy with the view and they did it as soon as our fav. was available the look of resort is more like a motel which I didn't expect it and also room id old style. The toilet flush was too loud specially when we used it at night. For paying almost $400 / night, I'd rather to go to a resort in Mexico with full service which includes my commute, and food as well

Our room was so beautiful, overlooking the ocean. We slept to the sounds of the ocean each night. We were traveling without kids but it was clearly a family-friendly place. Loved Roxy at the front desk. What a character. Highly recommend a weekend stay at this lovely place.

I enjoyed my stay. The room was very comfortable, clean, and I loved having a fireplace. Views were fantastic. My one quibble would be the lack of a complimentary breakfast, considering the price. A microwave or larger fridge would've made life easier, but for one person, using the mini-fridge was doable.

Cavalier I a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the ocean, beach, and mall town of Cambria and moonstone beach boardwalk and sunsets. Paso wineries aren't that far away and are a good day trip.
