It is very painful to post a not so good review. This was a last minute booking and trip for me. l booked 2 nights here. I didn't set my expectations too high which was good. The pictures online are not true to what you get. The front desk staff was very friendly and the lobby is cute. I booked an ocean view room it said it had a balcony but what they call the balcony is just the second level walkway. My room was very outdated. There is no AC, they do give you a portable fan. I got there after dark so didn't notice the mold in the bathroom until the next day. The chairs in the room were old and ripped up. The bed was clean as I did check. The lodge grounds are nice. But this place needs some TLC. I would not stay here again and unfortunately wouldn't recommend. It is close to a nice beach and it was less expensive than the places along the beach in Cambria. But you do get what you pay for.

Wouldn’t stay again

This is right across the 1 from beach access, the staff was friendly and the food in the restaraunt was decent. We stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay because we checked in and checked out then decided to stay in the area one more night. I would have rather find another place but my friend said go with the devil you know. The bedding was ok on the comfort scale. Rooms were quiet, we didn’t pay for a view and had a partial ocean view, the bedding had holes in it, the walls had holes in it from pictures that had been removed, one bathroom had a decent sized shower the other was so extremely small but both were moldy and gross, and several of the outlets in the rooms didn’t work. I would not recommend or stay here again.

There’s a restaurant, bar, and convenience store on the property. It’s also close to Cambria and very reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again.

The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. The location is great. It has the ocean view and is only a few minutes to the beach. It is also a very short drive to the famous Hearst Castle.

Upgrade would make this a great hotel

The people were really kind and the food at the restaurant was really good. However, the hotel is older and did not feel very clean. Although it may have been clean it felt dirty. Hopefully, they do an upgrade to this location because the staff is awesome there.
