Stayed at Hotel Casa Aluge in Zona Colonial and had a great experience. The location is perfect — you can walk to restaurants, historic sites, and cafés within minutes. The rooms need an upgrade, but are clean, comfortable, and well air-conditioned, which is a big plus in Santo Domingo. Breakfast was included and very fresh each morning — simple but delicious and homemade-style. Staff were friendly and helpful, making the stay feel welcoming and personal. Would definitely recommend for travelers who want charm, convenience, and great value in the heart of the Colonial Zone.

breakfast was good. Most staff friendly. However place was absolutely disgusting. Garbage under bed. Cobwebs on light. Tons of dust. Can't say enough how unclean the room was. The bed also was disgusting. Super dirty. See pictures/video so you can see what I mean. Brought it to their attention. They don't clean during your stay either. Broke into a rash. Tons of mosquitoes. Don't recommend.

Hotel was trying to charge me more than Expedia shows. They refused to accept c/c. Room was dirty and never cleaned during my stay. No hangers for cloth. For three days they never expected me for breakfast. I left one day earlier since can't stand it any more.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They really look out for you, and that is what stood out the most for me. They looked out for me with Ubers, navigating around the area, and even were worried when I didn’t wake up in time for breakfast. In fact, they kept the cafeteria open for me to make sure I got to eat. (They can bring it to you for a modest fee, FYI.) The accommodations are basic but adequate, which is fine if you’re like me and not planning to spend a lot of time at your hotel. The shower had hot water and decent water pressure. I also like the location, being just a block and a half from El Conde (pedestrian street) and a few minute walk from Parque Colón, where you can always find restaurants to have a coffee or meal.
