We stayed 3 nights at Smile hotel and loved it! The staff is very friendly (and English speaking!), helpful and proactive (the room was too hot and stuffy for our liking and the problem got solved very quickly). Japan is notorious for small hotel rooms, and it's true - but our hotel room was sufficient for our needs. We spent most of the day outside and only used the room for sleeping at night so we would rather spend that extra cash shopping or dining. This location was great as it was a walking distance from all the places we visited in Sapporo and there's a Lawson and 7-eleven nearby. This is a great budget option without sacrificing comfort and convenience. Would come back again if we have the opportunity.
