WildKind Nature Retreat - tiny houses at the edge of Calimani Mountains, Romania

Wake up to mist rolling over the meadow and wind in the spruce trees. The Green Cabin is a cosy tiny house set on 8.5 hectares of forest and open pasture at 1,000m altitude, right at the gateway to Călimani National Park in the heart of Țara Dornelor in North-East Romania.

The cabin is fully private, with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and a loft bedroom tucked above the living area. The king size bed (180x190cm) sits beneath a sloping ceiling with a window looking out into the treetops, finished with white linen and a colourful Moroccan-style headboard. Downstairs, a deep green sofa bed seats and sleeps comfortably, next to a large picture window framing the meadow and the forest beyond. A table and two chairs sit just outside the front door, where most guests end up spending their mornings with a coffee.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering: induction hob, fridge, kettle, Moka pot, toaster, and everything you need to cook a proper meal. The bathroom is finished in botanical leaf wallpaper with black fittings, a walk-in rain shower, wall-hung toilet and a round mirror above the vanity. We provide towels, a hair dryer, and natural liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo, chosen to protect our sensitive septic system and gentle on your skin.

Outside, the 8.5 hectare grounds are yours to explore freely. Four hammocks are dotted across the property, there is a campfire area for evenings under the stars, a small pond with dragonflies, and direct access to forest trails leading into Călimani National Park. Electric bikes are available to hire for exploring the surrounding countryside. For a quieter afternoon, we also offer a pressed flower workshop using plants from the meadow.

WildKind is a social enterprise. A portion of every stay supports Învață din Natură, our educational programme connecting children from vulnerable backgrounds with the natural world.

Vatra Dornei, with shops, restaurants and a train station, is 15km away. We are happy to arrange pickup from the station on request, and can also organise transfers from Suceava, Iași and Cluj airports.

This cabin offers its guests a garden, laundry facilities, and local meal delivery service. The front desk is open around the clock.
