Historic 1853 Tattnall House with Lush Courtyard & Steps to all the sites!

A unique experience awaits you at The Tattnall House, offering the luxury and privacy of this historically preserved home built in 1853!

The Tattnall House is located in one of the most beautiful parts of downtown. We are steps from the famously appointed "America's Most Beautiful" Jones Street with draping Live Oaks and the picturesque Spanish Moss.

This beautiful 2-story brick home accommodates up to 4 guests in a quintessentially, old Savannah ambiance. From the period furnishings to the meticulously preserved historic details of the original 1853 home.

Guests enter the ground floor foyer and step into the cozy living room with the original fireplace (does NOT function) and a plethora of books and DVDs (player is in Primary Bedroom). The owners are film & TV set designers for programs filmed in New York City so they have an extensive collection of movies! They have also been the hands-on preservationists in restoring this jewel!

The spacious dining room seats 4 comfortably with its original fireplace and leads to the sunny kitchen with the original brick wall. Out the side door is the lush, private courtyard where you can enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes & accoutrement one needs to whip up a meal or plate some local take out! The kitchen includes a drip coffee maker.

Up the stairs to the 2nd floor is the bathroom (there is no bathroom on the 1st floor) and 2 spacious bedrooms. The primary bedroom that faces Tattnall Street has a queen bed, smart TV, DVD player and an attached dressing room with a darling antique vanity and armoire.

The 2nd bedroom also has a queen bed and this room has a large closet that houses the washer & dryer. Guests are welcome to use this!

The bathroom has a beautiful vanity built into a vintage oak dressing stand with a lovely marble top and porcelain sink. There is a door that shuts to the business-end of the bathroom. With a shower/tub combo, toilet and bidet. A guest is able to brush teeth at the vanity with privacy for someone using the shower.

Our home is within walking distance to many of the famous attractions including: Forsyth Park, The Jepson Center for the Arts, shopping, historic tours and two of our favorite restaurants: Mrs. Wilkes and The Crystal Beer Parlor.

Perfect

Location was perfect. The house was very clean and neighborhood was quiet. Beds were comfortable. Was within walking distance of many places. The sitting area to watch tv in the evening is not as comfortable as I would prefer but understand that the decor of the home kind of makes it that way. Overall our stay was perfect! Would stay here again and would recommend.

The property is lovely, clean and had everything we needed. The location is great, walkable to just about everything. The neighborhood was quiet. I would not recommend it for people with small children, the home is decorated with lovely antiques. But I do highly recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic, historic Savannah.

Gorgeous Historic Home

Everything as advertised. All the amenities wrapped in a gorgeous package. Our only recommendation is to have a custom runner made for the stairs. The polished wood is slick and my wife fell off the next to last stair despite our trying to be overly careful. Aside from that small detail, utter perfection in every way

Perfect location in historic district

Well taken care of home in historic district, steps away from many restaurants, Forsyth Park -- but quiet in the evenings. Nicely appointed inside, with updated bathroom, and a lovely private wee garden space. Thank you for welcoming us to Savannah - look forward to coming back!

Charming

This place was nice. It was our first time visiting Savannah and the location was close to everything. As we have never dealt with metered parking, there is a space in front of the house. And parking there is free after 5pm. So you only have to pay for parking from 8am to 5pm, and it's free on the weekends. My only complaint is you have to take a quick shower, the hot water doesn't last long.

Charming and Convenient

We enjoyed staying at this charming home. It was convenient for our visit to SCAD as well as dining and other local attractions in the historic district. My only complaint was that the 10 am check out time was too early and not convenient for traveling without a vehicle as we had to drag our bags around Savannah with us on Sunday until it was time to depart for the airport.

Loud noises from nearby construction

Great location. There is construction next to property with occasional loud jackhammer. Awoke one morning to the sound of very loud leaf blowers at 7:30 AM. Returned to house one afternoon after walking the historic district to find more loud leaf blowers on the property. We had to go sit in nearby square because of the noise.

THE perfect place for experiencing traditional Savannah

Fabulous very nearby (2-8 blocks) restaurants, coffee place. A true wonder for people who are less interested in the high-density of tourists waterfront version of Savannah. And that walled garden...!! My second time staying here and I wouldn't stay anyplace else.

Fabulous!

This cottage exceeded our expectations. The photos are spot on. My best friend and I agree we could live there happily ever after. It is very well maintained. We had all the supplies we needed to be comfortable. It’s within walking distance to everything you want to explore in Savannah. We were also able to grab parking spots directly across the street. Savannah Coffee Roasters is practically around the corner too. AND the beds were SO comfortable! We are already talking about returning sometime. It’s truly fabulous! Book it!

Excellent location

The location of this property is excellent walking proximity to downtown Savannah. Tidy, adorable historic home. Well-appointed kitchen. Very comfortable beds, good closets and convenient laundry on second floor (bring your detergent). Bring your own coffee for the coffee pot. WiFi was touch and go. There was considerable daytime construction noise directly behind/next to this property as of late Nov 2024. Street parking was tricky but the owners designated lot is only a quick 5 min walk away through the charming neighborhood. We would stay again.

Great Location, Great Stay

Cute house -- exactly as described. About a 20 minute Uber from the airport, and walkable to pretty much everything you'd want to see (or a short ride). We ran into an issue where the electronic lock to get into the house ran out of batteries, and the hosts were incredibly responsive fixed it within 30 minutes. The outdoor space was so cute, and great for an afternoon wine and cheese. I think our only (incredibly minor) complaint is that the couch and chairs in the living room weren't very comfortable, but we were mostly out and about so not a huge deal.

Gorgeous!

Gorgeous property! It was in a great area to be able to walk all over. We walked to the farmers market, tons of great restaurants, and some great historical areas. Over the weekend the parking in front of the house is free but during the week it is pay to park so that is something to keep in mind but it was a really wonderful stay and I would go back again for sure.
