Dog Friendly Safari Tent Cuckoo at Sweffling Hall, Suffolk

Nestled between the Suffolk countryside and the coastal town of Aldeburgh, Cuckoo is one of six traditional off-grid safari tents at Sweffling Hall, a peaceful place for spending quality time together, perfect for couples, families and dogs alike. Surrounded by open fields and local farms, it feels tucked away with plenty of outdoor space where little adventures happen naturally and children can run freely, play and connect with nature away from screens, creating memories that last.

Each of our off-grid safari tents at Lantern & Larks, accommodates six guests across three bedrooms. There is one king size room, one twin room and one bunk bedroom. Inside, there is an open plan living area with a spacious kitchen featuring a double gas hob, two cool boxes, a dining table, a comfortable seating area and a wood-burning stove. Each safari tent also has its own private bathroom facilities with running water, as well as its own outdoor seating area with a firepit and unlimited logs included.
We provide rechargeable lanterns and hot water bottles to keep you cosy in the evenings - though it's always worth packing for a little bit of everything when it comes to British weather.

Sweffling Hall is perfectly placed for exploring some of Suffolk's most loved coastal spots. Aldeburgh is just a short drive away, with its pebble beach, colourful seafront, independent shops and famous fish and chips, ideal for a relaxed afternoon by the sea. Southwold makes another great day out, with its sandy beach, traditional pier, lighthouse and plenty of places to stop for an ice cream or browse the local shops.

Closer to the site, you'll find peaceful estuaries, reed beds, walking trails and charming villages to explore at your own pace. Whether it's a beach day with the family, a coastal walk, birdwatching or simply enjoying good food by the sea, there's plenty nearby before returning to your safari tent to spend the evening together.

There is an abundance of on site activities that can be booked in advance such as Nature Meditation, Forest Bathing, Beachcombing, Astronomy Sessions and a Horse and Cart Ride. Please enquiry for additional information.

Creating family memories

We absolutely love the set-up of Lantern & Larks and have stayed on 3 different sites. The Sweffling site is a favourite as the location is so close to the coast and the lovely towns of Southwold & Aldeburgh. Nothing is too much trouble for Andrew who lives on the farm onsite and is always available. We travel as a large family group (plus dog) and book 3 properties on the site, the kids are free to roam and the tents are well equipped for everything you need. There's a decent shower and separate loo, a lovely woodburner for the chilly evenings - with a plentiful supply of logs you can get from the log store (included). There's a gas hob for cooking/making a cup of tea, but also an open fire outside that you can BBQ on (bring your own charcoal, or can purchase in the shop). The beds are comfy & cosy too. The honesty shop is well equipped, you can plug your charging banks in to recharge, but they also provide rechargeable lanterns, plus frozen 'hot' water bottles which you can use to chill the cool boxes (x2) that are provided in the tents. We're already enquiring about booking the same week again next year! Thank you Andrew, and the Lantern & Larks team!
