The Grate House is just a 3‑minute drive (or less!) to Harding University, Harding Academy, Searcy High School, and downtown Searcy.

Originally built in the 1940s, this charming home has been fully remodeled inside, blending modern comforts with historic touches — from its marble countertops and tile floors to original hardwood, reclaimed tongue‑and‑groove boards, and the unique floor grate that inspired its name.

This 2‑bedroom, 1‑bath home features a full kitchen, formal dining area, laundry access, and a comfortable living room with a pull‑out couch. Outside, enjoy a fenced backyard with a spacious patio, grill, fire pit, fire table, and outdoor seating.

The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
-If you leave before 11am please message us and let us know -Collect trash from bathroom and kitchen. Please place it in large trash bin outside in the backyard.
-Please leave bedding. We ask that you do not re make the used beds. -Place any used blankets in front of one of the beds as well. -Dishwasher cleaning pods can be found under the sink.
-Towels: Please toss all towels in the hamper in the laundry room. -Rugs: Please place the kitchen rugs on the bench in the dining room. This helps our roomba vacuum not get into unnecessary fights.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rules

Pet needs to be house trained (no peeing/pooping/chewing). No pets on furniture.
The renter is responsible for complying with these regulations and the renter will be cited or fined by the City of Searcy for violations.
It is the renters responsibility not to trespass onto the property surrounding the Grate House

Cannot say enough nice things about this place! From the beginning communication with hosts, to location, amenities and the check out process, everything was great! We were walking distance from great food, great coffee, the DG and the West Side Church of Christ. Dogs had a great, fenced in yard to run in. Plenty of room for us to visit with my son and daughter in law. We found 2 decks of cards.. Got in plenty of Euchre, Golf and Bummer! We were made to feel welcome from the very beginning of the reservation process. They mowed once while we were there and were so quick we hardly noticed. They also happened by to put trash bin out at the time our van wouldn't start so he tried to jump start it. Super friendly and helpful and even offered number of a mobile mechanic when it still wouldn't start. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We had a wonderful week and are so grateful for folks like these to allow better quality options than a hotel room.

So charming!

This house is a gem! It is immaculate on the inside, and it is so tastefully done. Hosts are completely wonderful and responsive, check in and out is so.very.easy, and the tv is actually easy to use! There is nothing not to love about this one. If you come to Searcy, this is the one to book.

We really loved the old fashioned door knobs, old floors, and shiplap! It was great to see tasteful updates but keeping some of the homes history! It was very peaceful and we enjoyed the grill and firepit at night. Our dog enjoyed the yard and he barely fit through the dog door which he loves. He is an old lab.

University Visit

This was a great place to stay for our visit to Searcy. House was well done for the remodel, and we felt comfortable staying here. The next door neighbor has a dog that barks quite a bit, but it was controlled during the evening, so it was a non-issue. Had great communication with the hosts, and check in/out was easy and reasonable. Will definitely look to stay here again should we end up being frequent visitors to Searcy.

Great little place in Searcy

We had the opportunity to stay at the Grate House on a visit to Harding University. It was a perfect location close to everything we needed and a nice cozy place to stay while visiting. The hosts communicated everything we needed and the checking and check out was seamless. Highly recommend!
