Joëlle & Michel (a former elite cyclist, passionate about both road and mountain biking) welcome you to a charming, authentic 19th-century winemaker's house, meticulously restored according to traditional methods. Nestled on a hillside, bordering gentle pastures beneath the wooded ridges of a beautiful forest, it lies in the heart of the sublime Brionnais bocage countryside, with the famous, peaceful Charolais cows as its privileged neighbors. Enjoy complete peace and tranquility within a scattered rural hamlet perched on a sunny southwest-facing plateau overlooking a bucolic valley through which a small river flows. Located in the heart of the unspoiled Brionnais countryside (protected as a ZNIEFF and Natura 2000 site for its rich flora and fauna), it is nestled in a magnificent, rolling landscape that blends agriculture and unspoiled nature. An exceptionally peaceful setting near the picturesque medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais, the historic capital of the Brionnais region, a Cluniac site steeped in history and awarded the prestigious "Most Beautiful Villages of France" label (birthplace of Hugh of Semur, the future Saint Hugh, founder of Cluny Abbey), boasting an exceptional heritage (remains of a 10th-century medieval castle, a listed 12th-century Romanesque church and chapel, an imposing 19th-century priory, an 18th-century town hall, elegant historic residences, etc.). This spacious and very comfortable gîte features a beautiful, cathedral-ceilinged living room, created in the space formerly occupied by the historic wine cellar. Its warm, rustic charm, enhanced by contemporary touches, is further enhanced by meticulous heritage restoration (original fireplace mantel, stone walls, beams, and timbers). The cozy and inviting atmosphere complements the unique and captivating architecture of the surroundings. Full of charm and character. A large sheltered terrace, extending onto a sunny terrace, opens onto a pleasant, enclosed 1800m² garden, meticulously laid to lawn (a perfect, safe "play area" for children), flanked by fruit trees (cherry, peach, apple, pear, strawberry... / picking possible during your stay) and a large gravel courtyard, a literal "natural pétanque court".
