KAYAKING!
We have 6 kayaks available to rent, each come with a dry bag for your use, both singles and doubles!
Because we are nestled in the Chugach Mountains and part of the broader Prince William Sound region (with its dramatic fjords, tidewater glaciers, and rich marine ecosystem nearby), this beautiful, protected anchorage offers an ideal spot for peaceful and adventurous kayaking.
With our kayaks, you can glide across the calm, crystal-clear waters of Bowen Anchorage and explore its serene shores, hidden coves, and rugged coastline at your own pace. Paddle close to dramatic rocky cliffs, weave through kelp forests, and soak in breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, cascading waterfalls, and the vast wilderness that defines coastal Alaska. Whether you're a beginner seeking a relaxing paddle or an experienced kayaker looking for longer excursions, the protected nature of the anchorage makes it accessible and safe, with minimal boat traffic and gentle waves in most conditions.
The real magic comes from the incredible wildlife encounters you might experience right from your kayak:
Sea otters floating playfully on their backs, often in groups called rafts, cracking open shellfish with rocks.
Harbor seals and Steller sea lions hauled out on rocks or swimming curiously nearby.
Bald eagles soaring overhead or perched in trees, scanning for fish.
Porpoises (like Dahl's porpoise) slicing through the water in energetic groups.
In the surrounding Day Harbor, you could spot humpback whales breaching, orcas (killer whales), puffins, and other seabirds.
On shore or in quieter inlets, keep an eye out for black bears foraging along the tideline, moose in nearby meadows, or Sitka black-tailed deer.
It's a front-row seat to Alaska's untamed beauty—quiet enough to hear the splash of a seal or the call of an eagle, yet full of potential for those unforgettable "wow" moments that make Alaskan adventures legendary.
Our stable, high-quality sea kayaks (single or double options available) will allow you to create your own unforgettable journey in one of Alaska's most pristine and wildlife-rich coastal spots. Perfect for photographers, nature lovers, or anyone wanting to disconnect and immerse in the wild!
FISHING!
If you are a fisherman and do not want to haul your own gear out there we have fishing rod/reel combinations that are perfect for the waters that we fish in front of the cabin. They are available to rent for a nominal fee. We also have lures that have been selected specifically for the species that can be caught from the beach. Mid July the Coho Salmon a.k.a. "Silvers" show up in our bay and are typically in catchable numbers through the middle to nearly the end of August.
We offer free filleting no and are happy to teach those interested in learning. We also can offer commercial vacuum sealing and freeze your fish during your stay.
