Glen cottage location was perfect

We arrived on Wednesday evening to the sound of church bells ringing — it was absolutely magical. The cottage was beautiful and very spacious, with comfy beds and an idyllic location. The village itself is lovely, with a great community shop.

A cosy, character filled Cotswolds cottage

We stayed at this lovely cottage to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday, with four adults and our Labrador, and it was perfect for a special family break. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very cosy and full of original features. The log fire in the front room made it especially welcoming. The location was fantastic, with great local pubs nearby and a community shop close by for essentials. It really had that classic Cotswolds feel. My mum had a wonderful birthday and we all felt completely at home. We would happily recommend this cottage and would love to return.

Lovely Cottage in a beautiful village

We had a lovely stay in the Glen, it was perfect for our small family and dog with a sunny enclosed garden and kitchen dining area. The village was beautiful and worth a visit in its own right; although living there gives you views and a perspective you perhaps wouldn’t get from a short visit.

Tranquil cottage with a great pub

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Glen in Ilmington. Lovely, spacious, well appointed and the open fireplace was greatly enjoyed. Plan to book again for a girls trip later this year. Thank you for having us!

Great location and cottage

We had a lovely weekend at The Glen. The cottage is spacious, warm and comfortable including the beds. Its location in the pretty Ilmington village with two great pubs and country walks was perfect. Where it mattered was clean, however we felt the cottage could do with a deep clean including the cooker. We also would have preferred an earlier check in, arriving at 5pm in heavy traffic and darkness wasn’t ideal. The WiFi and phone reception was poor. The positives however definitely outweighed the few negatives so we would love to return to this lovely cottage.

Lovely cottage - ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds

Great cottage as a base for exploring the Cotswolds. Very comfortable & well equipped. As we were blessed with good weather we made the most of the sitting areas outside. Lovely village with community shop & 2 pubs. We went walking everyday, sometimes from the cottage and other times driving to explore further afield.

Fantastic Holiday Cottage

We stayed at The Glen last week and had a brilliant time. It was roomy, quiet, modern and we wanted for nothing. Everything you might need was available within the cottage. We had our 2 dogs and the garden was perfect as enclosed due to the side gates. We will definitely be back

Perfect cosy retreat

The Glen was perfect for our friends get together. It was cosy and had everything we needed. The manager was easy to communicate with. It's a very peaceful village with a lovely pub for food (The Howard Arms). It's a great spot to explore the Cotswolds from.

A beautiful cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds

Five of us recently stayed at The Glen for a little reunion of uni friends and it was absolutely perfect. The village of Ilmington is lovely in itself and is only a short drive from the larger villages of Chipping Campden and Broadway. The cottage was extremely well equipped, very cosy and had lots of lovely character. The rooms were comfy and we were lucky enough to have decent weather to be able to enjoy the lovely garden. I will absolutely stay here again if I find myself in this neck of the woods!

Charming gem

Nice old reed roof house with the charm of the early years. Plumbing, windows all older and with minor issues. But very tastefully furnished and a garden to dream and swich off.

A nice vacation in a very cute cottage

We enjoyed our stay at The Glen very much. Very lovely cottage and also dog friendly which was important for us. Very nice surrounding, sweet little village. We would like to make a small comment regarding the directions, as we only found the cottage with the help of the local residents. It is in not directly located at the street so not possible to find it at once.

Chocolate box charm

A group of school friends now in our late 60s rented for a week. The house was charming, well appointed and had everything we needed. Our neighbour (shared path) was gracious and friendly. The village, pubs, and community cafe were excellent, friendly and in a little English idyll. Would recommend.

4 day break Ilmington, Warks

First of all, the information provided by Stay Cotswolds, just before our arrival date was comprehensive and very useful. The only minor problem was having to wait till 5pm to access The Glen, However, we walked around the Churchyard and inside St Mary's Church which was interesting where found some of the Mouseman's mouse carvings. Once we opened the front door to the Glen we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely, roomy, cosy home from home. Plenty of hot water, comfortable beds and a cosy lounge. Venturing into the garden we were surprised by the size - if only we'd had some sunshine to enable us to sit out there! It was a lovely tranquil space ,.Ilmington is a quiet, friendly village with a Community shop and a pub and close to lots of places to visit. We would definitely recommend the Glen.

Long weekend break

The cottage is lovely, well equipped and welcoming. Open fire is a treat. We had a nice welcome pack and found everything you could need to make our stay comfortable and homely. The weather was a bit wet so we didn’t use the garden but on venturing out to take a look it is large and well looked after with a nice seating area by the dining area door. The village is great, has a lovely church just opposite and not built up with lots of new houses as many villages are now. Take a walk down the footpath next to the church and it will lead to The Red Lion pub, full of locals and very friendly, bit rough and ready but possibly the best home cooked food we have eaten in a pub for years. The landlady makes everything herself and is a great cook, highly recommend the brisket on a Sunday. We would recommend this cottage and village we had a great time.

Peaceful retreat in lovely village

The Glen is a gorgeous cottage and just the place for our group of 5. It’s a picturesque cottage in a lovely location, within walking distance down lovely footpaths to two pubs and the village shop. Which was well stocked for what we needed to top us up on our big shop. We visited both pubs and enjoyed them both. Take torches/phones for light if at night as it was a pretty dark walk! We stayed for a weekend and wish it would’ve been longer, the fire was lovely with enough wood for a fire on a night and the living space was great with enough space for all of us to lounge around and be cosy. The oven was a little dirty on arrival and there weren’t enough towels, however that was rectified promptly by the hosts who dropped round extra the morning after we arrived. Would’ve liked a bit more toilet paper as we had to buy more which is a little frustrating for a weekend stay. There were notes about a recent mouse issue, we stored all our food in the containers provided and no sign of mice for us. But partially to be expected in an old countryside cottage - so didn’t bother us too much. We would highly recommend this cottage and are looking forward to staying again. The garden and terrace we couldn’t use due to the weather, we did go outside to take a look and I’m sure these would be wonderful in the summer.

Lovely village. Perfect location...but..

Glen Cottage was a big disappointment which was a shame as externally it was very pretty and perfectly located in a lovely village. Internally it was very "tired' and looked unloved. From chipped and peeling paintwork on kitchen units to unmown grass, a loo cistern not attached to the wall, to scruffy paintwork in places, a very rusty radiator in the en suite, to a frayed and torn hand towel in the twin bedroom.. the cottage gave a general air of neglect. Housekeeping-wise.. the fire had not been cleaned out and there was the ash and unburnt logs of previous guests. The fire stater kit was completely inadequate. Dishwasher had no rinse-aid or salt. Oven smelt and there was a persistent mild smell of sewage in the en suite shower room. We are very sorry to be so damning.. but the cottage was simply not worth the money we paid for it. Compared to our last stay with you at Fuschia Cottage in Milton- under-Wychwood, this was a major let-down.
