Montechiaro is a historic estate where you can experience the history of Chianti and peaceful country life. This private, secluded place has cultivated patience and tradition for generations. Around the main villa, built in 1760, are the farmhouses that form the winery. You will stay in lovingly restored historic buildings with breathtaking views of Siena. The old town is just a short drive away.

The Montechiaro Estate, located in the Municipality of Siena about 10 km from the city of the Palio, covers 160 hectares of land, of which 10 are dedicated to vineyards surrounded by 2,000 olive trees, while the rest is used for arable crops. The beautiful farmhouses of the estate are rented out during the summer season.



Situated on a panoramic hill between the Arbia river to the east and the Bozzone stream to the west, Montechiaro was one of the “comunelli delle Masse,” administered by a podestà as early as 1271. A century later, the tower still visible near the villa was built.



Of the ancient fortified parish, once belonging to the canons of the Cathedral, little remains today: “Now, however, if you look at Vico D’Arbia, that place is no longer like a fortress; only a few houses, mostly of modern construction, surround the church. The fortress of Montechiaro is nothing but the aforementioned villa.”
