A new hotel within walking distance to Chinatown and its facilities. Not a lot of shopping, unless you like local dried foods or street food. Other shopping is at Orchard Road or Raffles City. We stayed here as our business meetings were around the Duxton Hill area.
The Lobby Cafe is independently owned of the hotel and the coffee prices were out of this world. Latte at S$6.90. Insttead of it being a service to guests, it was another rip off venue.
Front desk staffr, while all being very polite and sweet, lacks that natural customer service vibe. You don't ask, you don''t get. We found out late in our stay that there was a link to the Telok Ayer MRT station that can take you directly to the Airport. Within the link there were some eateries and shops. When we checked in at midnight, the front desk did not explain how to lift system works. Took us a few attempts before working out the new security technology. Again, you don't ask, you don't get.
The bedroom was cozy 17 sqm. To provide more room, the length of the bed was shortened. OK for short Asian guests, but leg hanging out of the bed for tall Caucasians.
The configuration reminded me of a cabin on a cruise ship. Smail shower and toilet. You have to dry ourselves after showering out of the bathroom.
The room rate was good taking into account some of the quirks of the design of the room. If travelling for business, I would stay there again as it is close to my business meetings.
