An old hotel that is a bit dated but that was part of the charm. Clean rooms and linen, good breakfast with tasty coffee and friendly/helpful staff. Look past the decor and enjoy your stay.

The hotel is old and slowly undertaking refurbishment. Our room was huge and updated. Very nice. However other rooms are small and dingy and desperately need updating. Service was excellent. Location is central however very noisy at night from young people shouting and/or arguing till all hours of the night

Building is in good shape for its vintage. Breakfast is well worth the price. Last stop of a land vacation before getting on a cruise ship. Walking distance to port, train station and bus line. They even did a weeks worth of our laundry before we boarded our cruise. Very nice staff.

Great location. Close to good dining, shopping and the cruise port. Windows did not open and no air conditioning so the room was a bit warm and stuffy. The bar and reception staff were extremely friendly. I would stay there again.

Fabulous to turn up after 2 days of air travel to be told that they would upgrade us to an improved room and we could go straight up. (We were just hoping to leave our bags somewhere while we wandered the high st) the water pressure was not great, but after that long in a plane it was the best shower I’d ever had!! The bed was comfy and a huge room. Everything was on the doorstep, and although the pub went until 2am, we were so tired we would’ve slept thru anything. Friendly staff and a neat watering hole on the lower floor. The lift is an experience and it made us smile each time we used it. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Well first of all it is described as a 3 star hotel, but there is no AC, it did have a fan, no elevator and very small room had to carry my luggage up stairs a long corridor and then another flight of stairs to get to the room the hotel has elevator, but it does not take you to the rooms.

Hotel is dated, with creaky, uneven floors. The lower half of the pull-cord for bathroom light in my room was very dirty, so I had to stretch up to use the cleaner part higher up. It made me nauseas to think what the brown staining on it might be... The toilet seat does not fit the toilet properly. Two of the four pillows on the bed were very lumpy and unusable. The room was fairly clean, though the furniture was dated and had scratched paint on surfaces. The lift is an old type with two heavy metal doors you have to slide shut for the lift to work. This resulted in numerous bruises on my hands. However, I was grateful there was a lift, as some rooms are only accessible via a complicated warren of stairs. The bar had inadequate seating for the number of rooms/guests and I was told it closed at 10pm, though I think they did stay open later if there were guests in there. The reception staff were polite and helpful. I cannot judge any other services because I did not use the restaurant.

When I checked in I was advised that the water was off for some rooms due to an issue but it did not affect mine. The room was small but it was a single room. It was clean and the staff were friendly. The highlight was the breakfast, which was superb and the breakfast staff were lovely and a credit to the hotel. Lots of choice and was ready immediately at the breakfast start time which was great as i had a train to catch soon after.

The hotel is in an excellent location equidistant between the bars and shopping centre such as O'Nells, Yates, etc and the bars and restaurants the other end on Oxford Street-that road is very vibrant and well worth a visit.

the staff where very helpful and polite the lift is a bit dated but fine the room was large with a comfy bed the bathroom was large with a shower over the bath . the breakfast was English or continental with fresh made toast . the location is ideal in the centre of the city easy walk to the shops .a lovely hotel we would stay again

This is an old hotel that is showing its age, but they are working on refurbishin. Our room was clean and roomy for this sort of place. Female desk clerk was very gracious and helpful. Our room fronted the street, so it was loud because, with the hot weather, we had the window open.
