This was a pleasant surprise — an older building that has been renovated. Historically charming. It’s within walking distance to local shops, dining and recreational areas. Area looked a little rough but seemed completely safe. Lots of nice, friendly, people here. Serene, beautiful country.
Historic old building with exceptional character. Some of the old historic was preserved with modern and comfortable upgrades to the rooms. Dining and entertainment are conveniently located adjacent to the historic downtown hotel. Accessibility is good with elevator and open areas in the lobby. A must stay for Superior visitors.

The water only got warm, not hot. It only reached a warm temp after letting it run for 15min (not an exaggeration). Staff said it was because of where the room was located and could not be fixed. The toilet was like an old middle school toilet and the water had an old mop water smell, which I personally was sensitive to. There was a bright red neon light (hotel sign) right outside our window and the shades did not block out the light. Also could hear people loudly walking above us. Overall, it seems as though they are trying to update the hotel, but it’s missing the mark.

It's a very cool hotel whose style doesn't really exist much longer in other places. It is still a 2 star hotel, but the best you can expect from one
Staff was very friendly. The location was good for food and proximity to shops and Duluth. While the hotel is old, it was clean and neat.
My only complaint was the incredible street noise from outside. You hear everything, at least the room I was given. Motorcycles and trucks with loud exhausts were especially unnerving. People shouting from one of the many bars. Luckily I had noise cancelling earbuds that, although uncomfortable, I was able to sleep with.
Old, quaint hotel. The staff is superior. The hotel is dingier than the pictures show. The rooms are off decorated for a what was at one time a very elegant hotel. No hair dryer. No coffee machine. You have to buy coffee from the restaurant in the hotel, which does serve good food.
