We celebrated Father’s Day with the whole family and grandpa at the Grand Hotel Taipei. The hotel staff were extremely warm and friendly toward the elderly. In addition to a bathtub, the bathroom’s shower area was equipped with a seat and handrails, which was wonderful. From the balcony, we could even enjoy a view of Taipei 101.

This is a beautiful property ~ We enjoyed our stay. But we were disappointed the pool is a lap pool and not for relaxing. Drinks at bar are amazing. It is walkable to night market but only by set of stairs through park. However, they offer a shuttle…we learned this too late as we were not given this info at checkin.

Check in process was friendly and seamless (thank you Jessie for the room upgrade for a better view of city)! Lobby was indeed grand (live piano music was a beautiful addition). Hotel shuttle to and from Yuanshan train station was very convenient. Room was nice - however recommend stocking room with more clothes hangars, plates, silverware. Standard pillows were uncomfortable - good thing I saw the pillow menu (charcoal pillow was much better). Recommend separate shampoo and conditioner (not combined). Underground tour was not that enjoyable because tour guide spoke in Mandarin - recommend offering 2 tours (Mandarin and English). Swimming pool and gym required taking a shuttle so we didnt get to see that part of the hotel unfortunately. Overall all hotel were friendly and welcoming (except the mean lady working as barista in afternoon of July 29, 2025). Hope to stay at Grand Hotel next time we are in Taipei!

Transport fee to airport not as quoted on hotel website, 5x more expensive. Difficult for travellers to get to shops and commercial areas. Otherwise beautiful decor and clean amenities.

This hotel is a historic site, and super interesting for that reason. But, it's a bit disconnected from the rest of the city, and the facilities are getting a bit old. If you want a unique, interesting experience, I recommend this place, but if you're looking for convenience and/or luxury I recommend finding somewhere else.

Absolutely Exceptional–A True Five-Star Experience

We had a superb experience staying at The Grand Hotel in Taipei. Among hotels of similar level, this one stands out for its thoughtful service and attention to detail. The staff were consistently warm and helpful — from the front desk and concierge to the transportation team, restaurant servers, cleaning staff, and luggage attendants. Everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. What impressed us most was how comprehensive the services were. The hotel helped us arrange taxis, airport shuttles, and even a private driver for a day trip outside of Taipei, which was the highlight of our stay. They also offer on-site currency exchange, which was very convenient. The hotel itself is true to its name — grand in design, well-maintained, and very clean. There's a real sense of history and elegance throughout the property. For the level of comfort and service provided, we felt the price was more than fair. It was excellent value for the experience we had. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and well-run place to stay in Taipei.

Certainly grand in appearance but rooms in main building are dated and in dire need of renovation. Location also not very convenient - close to Shilin nightmarket but not much else. The stay was comfortable, but not anything amazing. Staff were excellent.
