I feel that the former glory of this property’s past is over. The bathroom amenities were subpar. They had a weak hair dryer, shampoo but no conditioner, body soap but no washcloth. I called the lobby asking for my missing items but they didn’t seem to have anything but bottled water. They gave us a bottle labeled as hair conditioner but was a mix of creamy and clear liquid that was foaming. The toilet was not a whashlet that we thought we saw in a YouTube video. The bed was a little too hard for me. Other than that, the hotel staff was very nice and helpful with instructions on how to get around Taipei. And they offered free shuttle to the airport.

The facility was conveniently located to the airport and provided airport shuttle bus. The food is good and the room was clean. One thing that the hotel could help the traveller is that the shuttle bus schedule to include a schematic diagram showing the pick-up point from the airport especially terminal 1(Taoyuyan International Airport).

The bathroom is ordinary. There is only half door of the shower room, you have to be careful not to splash the water out. The shower head is tube-like and can only hang around your chest area. It may look sleek if that what you like but not practical. There are Barth towels and hand towels but no hand towels.

This was our second extended stay at The Gaya in Taitung, while visiting family. it felt 'tired' this time. Carpets in hallway a bit dirty, although I understand wheeling luggage along them won't help. Since our last visit, Taiwan has implemented no single use items in the room. And I do support this. On the other hand, the tea/coffee station was very sparse... 2 coffee bags, 2 tea bags. No sugar, no milk/creamer, no spoons. Maybe I could have requested that, but it was not a welcoming experience in my opinion. The front desk staff are nice but the language is a barrier as they didn't understand much English. I will say the bedding and duvet, and beds and pillows are wonderful! So comfortable. The floors have a nice quiet vibe and we didn't hear noise from any other rooms, so that is a huge plus. And finally.... as a few have pointed out in the reviews.... why on earth is the pool closed at the nicest part of the day when it would be nice to sit and read and swim?. It's closed from 11am to 3.30pm give or take 30 mins with winter/summer hours. It left us very frustrated after a morning out in the sun and heat. We did check out the Sheraton while we were there and may consider that next time, but overall I do recommend this hotel.

After spending two weeks and five star hotels this Hyatt was disappointing when it was 4 1/2 stars that look like a three star hotel. Got sick on the evening Bethay. Seafood was sitting out most of the evening. Fat stomach cramps the next day, all the way back to my home destination.
