The charming Gloucestershire town of Tewkesbury (4.5 miles) is the meeting place for the River Severn and the River Avon, and is well worth a visit for pretty strolls. For a day at the races, head to bustling Cheltenham (10 miles), while nearby Cotswold villages with plenty of charm include Winchcombe, Broadway, and Stow-on-the-Wold (all within 19 miles).

In the corner, a pillow-laden, built-in bench and generously sized dining table is ideal for tucking into intimate dishes. From here, guests have access to a separate cloakroom as well as the well-appointed shower room with a chic walk-in shower and WC. At night, head up the staircase to the tranquil mezzanine bedroom, which offers a king-size bed and a glass balustrade overlooking a stunning chandelier.
