Appartment fine, but communcation with the host problematic

The property as a whole is good. It is a nice appartment in a good location. Washing machine and dishwasher are a boon. Shower is very good. Balcony is ok. Swimming pool is large, but playing with balls is prohibited. Parking for the beach in Theoule is very hard. But on a whole, it is value for money. The home owner is a different story. The stay started with an extensive 'scavenger hunt', including many photo's and waiting times before we were alowed and found our way in. There were no instructions on the wifi, or washing machine. We had to find out by trial and error. Not a nice way to start the stay. There were no blankets, despite guarantees that they were included. He wasn't in the circumstance to deliver before Monday (we arrived on Saturday). After several phone calls (host was hard to reach and spoke mainly French), we agreed to buy sheets in the supermarket. After sending the receipts, we didn't hear from the host. We were worried if we would see the money back. So we contacted VRBO. It looked that it would end well. But... After cleaning up, closing the house and putting the keys in the keybox. We were called on the phone where the keys were. We were accused to have taken the keys with us (which we did not). Host on whatsapp: 'you are a robber'. Suddenly the host didn't have a problem talking English;-). So for the next renters: The appartment is value for money. But make clear agreements with the host, to prevent problems like we have had.

Wohnung kleiner als sie scheint / komplizierte Anfahrt

Der Vermieter kam ohne unser Einverständnis während unserer Abwesenheit zweimal in unsere Wohnung. Ein absolutes No-Go. Das Mobiliar war weitestgehend neu, was uns sehr gefiel. Die Sauberkeit war für französische Verhältnisse im Rahmen. Die Wohnung wurde raffiniert fotografiert und war kleiner als sie auf den Fotos schien. Sie war schlauchartig geschnitten und eine Klimaanlage gab es nur im Wohnzimmer. Der Gummi der Spülmaschine war eklig und dreckig, die Waschmaschine in Ordnung. Die Anfahrt via Einbahnstraßen war anstrengend. Man wurde von keinem Menschen empfangen, sondern musste sich mithilfe eines langen komplizierten PDFs durch verschiedene Türen und Schlüssel hangeln. Das nach der langen Autofahrt war mehr als anstrengend und furchtbar unpersönlich.
