4/10 Poor

Travelled with family and small children

We were in town for a wedding but only one might at this hotel as it was close to the venue. Our room was huge, with a nice second bedroom for the kids. Everything was quite dated, though it was clear they’d made some attempts to update. The young woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, the next morning we woke up to no power in our room — in fact, the whole building was out. That meant no elevator from the 5th floor, cold showers, and very little lighting. We tried showering with the door open for light, but the water was freezing. When we took the stairs, they were extremely slippery and poorly lit, so we used our phone flashlights and held the kids’ hands the entire way down the narrow, dated staircase.
When we reached the front desk to ask what was going on, they said the power was out in the area — fair enough, things happen. But we also asked if our breakfast coupons could be used later in the day or the next morning. This time, the woman at the desk was curt and unhelpful, simply telling us it wasn’t her problem and that if we were checking out, that was all we’d get.
The lack of customer service in that moment really soured what could have been a decent stay.
