I was surprised that the staff at the reception desk spoke no English—nada. Hence communicating was quite difficult since I don’t speak any Japanese, nada. But it’s the case that English is not spoken almost anywhere in Shikoku. Apart from the language issue, my stay at the hotel was quite pleasant, the hotel location proved to be excellent for day trips on the island and my room was very comfortable.

The hotel is excellent, and the staff was polite. However, even though I am a permanent resident of Japan, they asked to photocopy my Japanese Resident ID card, even after I told him, in polite Japanese, that this was against the law. Also, at check out, while I was waiting in line, two Japanese couples barged in front of me and were attended to first, for no apparent reason. I felt discriminated against, despite speaking the language and living in the country for 27 years.

The hotel is connected to the Tokushima Station and the Clement Plaza (small shopping center) so it is very convenient. I chose a bigger room and it was really nice, especially the bathroom with a tub that has a city view window (very nice at night).The bus stops are also right outside the main entrance and there are many dining options around the area.
