Really enjoyed my stay here. The housekeeper cleans our room daily and replaces the towels. Their breakfast is okay. I wish they would update the menu every day. Still, I really like their fresh fruit. I would love to see an egg omelet and maybe some smoked salmon.

This was our second visit to Miyako City Takanawa Gateway and we loved it! The Takanawa Gateway station has changed so much since our last visit but the area still remains very quiet. The train station is easy to access and is very quiet compared to other stations nearby. And Shinagawa is a 10 minute walk so if you need to take the Shinkansen, it’s much easier to get to compared to going to Tokyo station which is so much busier. Make sure to take advantage of luggage transport services and if you plan on taking the Shinkansen, book early so you can get a good departure time, especially if you want a view of Mt Fuji.

The staff was friendly and efficient when checking in. The rooms were very clean and had all the amenities you needed. The shower room was nice in that the bathtub and shower were separate so you could take a shower and then soak up in the bath after. We appreciated the staff to accept our luggage beforehand and after checking out. The free soft drinks/coffee/tea and crackers/donuts between 5pm to 9pm was a nice treat! The only downside is that it is not a 6 minute walking distance to Shinagawa station. It actually took more than 10 minutes to get from Shinagawa to the hotel. It also took 10 minutes to get to the closest subway station to get to other parts of Tokyo. So please keep this in mind when booking this hotel. Overall, we had a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Right opposite Takanawa Gateway which is a new and fancy train station and shopping centre. Everything in great condition, room spacious - especially for Tokyo. The area is heavily under construction though, and it's not really in the centre of the busy city if that's what you're after (we've been to Tokyo so many times it wasn't a bother for us).

Cannot comment on breakfast since I did not have any. Excellent room and service, staff were fantastic and very helpful. Washer and dryer combo is limited and always in use, alternate laundromats is abut 1km away. Amenities are top however location has limited things to do in the immediate area, not a problem if you’re happy to catch the train here n there.

The breakfast seemed fresh, but the plain fried potatoes without onions and other stuff was only available the first day. I would have liked more choices for someone like me who doesn't eat wheat or pork. It's also a lounge, so many of the seats were paired with low tables, not comfortable for eating. The lounge itself was also hard to take advantage of, as they are only open in the early evening. They were closed when I came back from the wedding I was oficiating at almost midnight, Also, I could not get in and have a coffee during the afternoon that day--well after their lunch service because they just don't open very early. I hadn't remembered so I ended up paying the hotel for a 600 yen cappucino from their machine that would have been about the same for twice as much freshy brewed from one of the coffee shops I had passed on my way back. Other than my frustration with not being able to take advantage of the coffee when it was free, I thought the hotel service was excellent. Also, they printed out my script for the wedding free of charge, which was a wonderful perk.
