Disliked: Staff & service
I chose to stay in this hotel again because the staffs were friendly in my last stay and also the location. So, we booked 3 rooms for this trip but we checked-in in different dates. I am very disappointed to the staff during the check-in this time. My friends visited us at the lobby when I stored my bags at the hotel. When I was showing my booking to the receptionist, one of my family members was talking to a friend who was getting a coffee at the lobby. The Receptionist told us that we should not take the coffee. We told her we didn't take any drink from the machine but just talking to a friend by the coffee machine. She looked at my friends and said they should not take any drinks there, too. My friend showed her the room card. She then said they can get the coffee but not us. We repeated to her that we didn't take any drinks. I were shocked as the receptionist is so unfriendly. I don't think I would consider staying at this hotel in the future.
The location was great! We were able to walk to most places, and it was close to multiple different metro lines, so very convenient. Very easy to get to the airport from here too. We would stay here again!
The hotel is in a very nice area. Convenient to the large Ueno Station. There are lots of shops around the area and it is very walkable. It is close to Ueno Park which has a beautiful pond. The hotel itself is safe and quiet with the usual amenities expected in a Japanese mid-range hotel. The only critique I have is that the room. I would rate cleanliness 3/5 and there were some wall markings. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
Area was just perfect away from the heart of main busy district with 2 big shopping centre right at the door steps and the market street walking distance.
Hotel room was small but other qualities definitely made up for it. Train stations were all close by too which was great going places.
Room was cleaned everyday as requested and their service was great as well.
The location is good, but we had some serious issues. You cannot control the temperature of the room, and someone decided that 80° was a good temp for sleeping, to make matters worse you can't open the windows. The breakfast is at a small restaurant next door. The serving size wasn't great, but there are plenty of options outside.
We were very disappointed in the front desk service when trying to throw away our broken suitcase. After going to multiple stores and convenience stores, I was instructed to ask the hotel front desk to assist with this task. When I asked the front desk, they tried to immediately turn me away and say that they cannot help me with this. As a foreigner, we have no idea what it takes to throw away this type of thing so it was very disappointing for the hotel staff to turn me away when asking for help. After telling the front desk staff that I will pay, they told me to wait and proceeded to ask for, what seems to be a fake value of, 4,000 yen to throw away the broken suitcase. As there was no other option, I reluctantly paid the amount and left the suitcase with the front desk staff. It would be appreciated if the front desk staff understood that foreigners do not know the local rules of Japan and need assistance when trying to do certain things. Other than this, the hotel was in a great location and it was clean.
This hotel is located near multiple train stations and easy access to anywhere in Tokyo. The room was smaller than I wanted but it is the average size room for hotels in Tokyo. Staff are super nice and they provide free coffee and tea, and 1 bottle of water daily. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Great location right next to JR Okachimachi and walkable distance to Ueno
Room is decently spacious and comfortable.
Good choice for a hotel near the end of your trip if you are departing from Narita. It is quite close to the Keisei Ueno Skyliner station.
Great location with easy access to subway. Keisei Skyliner stops at the station close by if you’re coming from Narita airport. Room was cleaned everyday which I appreciated. The carpet could been vacuumed a bit more because I saw some hair that wasn’t mine, otherwise it was a comfortable stay. Front desk was helpful when I needed to store luggage after checkout to explore the city.
This is my fourth time in Tokyo and first time staying in Ueno. Tosei Hotel Cocone Ueno Okachimachi was at a very good location, close to the JR line which made travel with 3 younger children just that bit more easy. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The only drawback was the washing/drying machines that always seemed to be busy, but you can check on their status through the website. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We will stay again.
This is a very nice hotel in a good location. Very walkable and close to JR train station. Rooms are a bit small even for smaller people. Service is excellent and the free coffee is delicious. We did not try the attached restaurant, Coffee Kan
Good budget hotel for the night. The room was small but not terribly for one person. I had a small suitcase and two bags and there was room. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby smelt a bit like smoke as there’s a smoking area in the lobby but other than that I was happy. I felt safe and it’s a great location to Uneo station and the markets. Lots of luggage being stored in the lobby too which is convenient but a makes the place feel a bit messy. The bed was comfy and I would choose this place again as a standard budget option.
The location is very convenient which 3 mins walk distance to subway, and there are so many restaurants nearby! But the room space is tooooooo small!

Liked: Cleanliness
The room was quite small even for Tokyo standards. The lobby is very cramped and the hallways were crowded with carts and boxes. We only stayed one night so it wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t want to stay for a longer period of time. The lady that checked us in almost didn’t let us because our middle names were on our passports but not the reservation. I couldn’t remember if Expedia even has a middle name option when booking and we didn’t have any problems with the other two hotels we stayed at in Japan.
Great location in Ueno with easy access to train stations, shopping and food. Just a few mins walk from Narita Keisei line and Ueno Park.
Clean room, daily service, coffee in the lobby and laundry facility.
