Cheapest hotel I’ve stayed at in all my years coming to Tokyo and Shinjuku. Traveled alone this time and decided to see if I couldn’t save a few bucks and so searched for a hotel in Shinjuku with decent reviews that cost less than US$100 (typically spend US$175-250). Super pleased to say that the Via Inn was a very pleasant surprise. If you’re new to Japan then understand that hotels here are quite small and Via is no exception. Aside from a small desk with a chair there was nowhere to sit other than the bed. Fine with me. The bed was very comfortable - firmer than average with a nice comforter. Only one pillow to begin with but I was given another when I asked for one. The ac worked as advertised, as did the separate air filter/humidifier. No closet space at all - just a wall-hung rack with a half dozen hangers. The bathroom was small but clean, and the water pressure and temp were great. No view at all from window, just the outer stairwell of the building next door. Clean hallways/elevators. Very pleasant staff at front desk - two gentlemen who helped me with the self check-in. A bit odd - I’ve not seen self check-in/out before - worked fine. Front desk staff actually had to help find my reservation when the kiosk couldn’t. The neighborhood is neither great nor awful. Ten min walk to Shinjuku Station. The Via Inn Shinjuku was clean, safe, affordable, comfortable. I recommend it and would return if alone. Couples/families might want to book a larger room though.

This hotel was perfect for a solo traveler. It was a small room but perfect for one person. The hotel was close to the train roughly 10 minute walk. There’s shopping everywhere in the area and convenient stores. I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

Perfect. Wouldn’t change a thing. No idea how this hotel has any bad reviews. Spotless clean, so so so friendly staff. Great location. Obviously the rooms are small, it’s central Tokyo. But the room design is perfect for the space it’s in. We had 2 large suitcases laid out at all times.

A bit of walk from Shinjuku station, but the staff was kind, the room was clean, and a decent size for the middle of Tokyo. My sister really liked the hotel as well. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great for late night checking in. Having things automated meant we can check in after a late flight. Though you had to fill in all the extra details again even though already online booked and paid but still it wasn’t too hard. Room is efficient, small but maximises without losing out of the comforts of a good toilet, bed and table. Great amenities to pick up downstairs, including a razor! Staff was extra friendly and helpful. Right around the corner of a Lawson is always great.
