This hotel recently had a severe flood on the 14th floor that effected all floors below. The hallways were all tore up and had dozens of electric air blowers running on each of the effected floors trying to dry out the carpeting.
ALSO...of the six elevators in this building, only 1 for each of the dedicated floors were working. This means that for the "Low rise side of the building that effected floors 5-27 which we were assigned to floor 6, there was only one working elevator of the 3 that were dedicated to our floors. This caused huge delays in getting to and from our room. When the one working elevator would finally stop on our floor it was already unsafely overloaded with other people who had already been waiting 20-40 mins for an elevator. This created another safety concern as a lot of people, some who had mobility issues using walking canes to use the concrete stairs to either gain access to the ground floor or even worse having to climb multiple floor levels of stairs to gain access to their rooms. In the event of a medical emergency or a fire, there would have been multiple fatalities before any emergency services could be of any help.
None of these inconveniences were communicated back to me or my party before out arrival.
I would be interested in knowing the the Health or building inspectors of Toronto downtown would think of this situation if they were to do an inspection
