On the edge of the UNESCO Cilento National Park, the holiday complex is located in the middle of a fascinating mountain landscape with clear traces of traditional agriculture and livestock farming with a wide view of the "golfo di policastro", which is protectively surrounded by steep, unspoilt coastal landscape with secluded bathing bays. Luckily, we are still surrounded by the gentle sounds of goats (capra cilentana), cows and sheep, supplied with natural products from small farmers from an almost forgotten world. The vast municipal area of Tortorella comprises different vegetation zones between 50 and 1480 metres above sea level, which still today offer the shepherds appropriate grazing land depending on the season. The largely unspoilt and surprisingly green hinterland invites hikers with a scouting spirit to explore the rich natural beauty: old holm oak/beech forests, bizarre karst rocks, deep gorges and grottos with clear streams and drinking water springs, along old mule tracks with rare flowers and herbs. The wolf, the wildcat, the otter and others are still among the long-established tribesmen, while hummingbirds and frog concerts often accompany the sunset and clear starry skies.
The complex consists of two restored natural stone houses and a small hut with a solar roof that was newly built in 2018. The apartment offered here is located on the upper floor with windows in all directions.
In front of the house there is a terrace with 2 deckchairs, as well as a table with chairs and parasol. The entrance area is surrounded by herbs, roses and vines. There is a parking space for your car in the immediate vicinity.
The apartment has a small bathroom with a large shower, washbasin and WC, hairdryer and window. Towels are provided. In the spacious entrance area there is a table with two stools, behind it is a fully equipped kitchenette with double hob (ceramic hob), kettle, oven, fridge with freezer compartment... A spacious wardrobe made of light-coloured wood separates the sleeping area, in which there is a double bed (150 cm wide). Washing machine and tumble dryer can be used free of charge. Board games and a library are for general use.
The property is located far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, at an altitude of 680 metres, in a small hamlet in the municipality of Tortorella, Gulf of Policastro, with rocks and holm oak forest behind it and an unobstructed view of green hills and the sea on the horizon. The 6000 square metre plot on a hillside is south-west facing. Large open spaces invite you to linger, hiking trails start directly at the house, swings and a tree house are waiting to be conquered. You can buy local produce such as ricotta, vegetables and eggs from our neighbours, farmers and shepherds. In the medieval village of Tortorella you will find small alimentari, a pharmacy, two bars and a post office, and the sea is a 25-minute drive away at Villamare.
The hosts speak German, English, French and Italian and will be happy to advise you on your explorations and hikes. Vegetables and herbs from our vegetable garden are available seasonally, and we organise fresh hens' eggs from our neighbours.
