Horrible customer service

Called to change my check in day more than a week prior to arriving. Was told that I was all set. Called two days before arrival to confirm this again, again told I was all set. Receive a check in email that morning after getting off the place Upon arrival to the hotel they tell me my room is not available ( there with an entire team for hockey tournament) was unable to stay the first night and had to walk to another hotel with my 7 year old and all of our luggage Did not offer any sort of compensation just an ‘upgraded’ room that they tried to charge me additional for as well Worst hotel experience.

Hotel room was not cleaned properly- hair on pillows and under the sheets and on the bathroom floors . The two complimentary water bottles in the room had both been opened and partially emptied but still placed next to clean glasses to be used. The internet was not working for most of the stay. When I went downstairs for coffee around 6:45 am, there was a redolent homeless gentleman raiding the breakfast items and getting coffee as quickly as possible and then leaving after having stuffing everything in his giant backpack with a cardboard “homeless” sign also sticking out the back of it. (Honestly, I’m all for feeding those in need but it made me like the premises were not even close to secure— there was not a staff member in sight to witness this happening in the main lobby). As for the front desk, it was a) not staffed with anyone or b) staffed with someone who basically couldn’t be bothered to deal with the guests. I asked him about any recommended restaurants within walking distance and he curtly told me to google some options. Not expecting concierge service but a minimal, cordial conversation didn’t seem unreasonable, especially as google directed me to a closed pizzeria on a dark street nearby. The lobby was nice though. A beautiful staircase. It’s clearly located in an historic building which has a lovely exterior. And it’s within walking distance to a nice cafe called Knead to Eat. It’s also very close to the Nexus Center which was very convenient.

Room was great as usual. Problem is other guests making noise at 3am one night and 4am the next. Front desk did quiet them down, but only after we called. Also TV screens went on in the middle of the night.
