Charming Cottage . Uzès.

Having fallen in love with this marvelous town of Uzès "classified as a city of Art and History, the owners decided to renovate an old sheepfold in the middle of an olive grove, Le Mas des Oliviers, located in the town of Uzès itself.

The large plot of land of 3200 m2 made it possible to build an independent gîte, l'Oustalou, in harmony with its environment. Its location at the other end of the land and the vegetation allow great privacy.

The large swimming pool, 13x6 m faces south .An electric blanket helps maintain the temperature at night.

The cottage with a total surface area of 60m2, includes a living room, a dining area, a fully equipped open kitchen (4 gas burners, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, toaster), television flat screen and free WIFI, Air conditioning was installed in September 2019.
2 bedrooms which each have their own bathroom with toilet.

Absolutely ideal vacation place .. comfortable house and terrace with an amazing pool. Hosts are lovely to deal with. Great situation for Uzes town on foot ;area is very accessible for visiting local attractions such as Nimes ,Pont du Gard , Avignon. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Charming and comfort

Lovely pool much needed to escape the heat. Charming and comfy cottage on the grounds of owners home. You share the pool with the family. They are polite but it isn’t private. This is clear on the listings. The town of Uzes is lovely and pont du gare is close. The house is well situated to the main road into Uzes.

Comfortable Cottage-Good Location

Would recommend this property for a visit to Uzes and surrounding areas. Very nice and responsive owner of property; beautiful, private, safe setting close to Uzès; comfortable beds and sofa; plenty of kitchen amenities, (though we didn’t cook while there); nice patio area. Was cold and windy during our stay, so weren’t able to use outside facilities, but we could see the owners take good care of it.

The perfect place to relax and unwind.

Set in the most beautiful grounds lined with olive trees, this stunning cottage was the perfect place for us to relax and unwind. Gerald our host was fantastic and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay with our 2 year old daughter. The cottage has all of the facilities you need and is within walking distance of the beautiful town of Uzes and a stones throw away from the most delicious bakery! We had warm croissants and sweet pastries every morning for breakfast! The highlight for us was the incredible swimming pool… just beautiful!! We will certainly be recommending this place to friends and family back home. Thank you Gerald for an amazing stay and for all your recommendations. We’ll be back if you’ll have us!

Paradise on earth

This was one of our best stays ever. The house and garden and pool were just like it was described - even better. Gerard was there waiting for us to explain everything we needed to know about in the house. The house itself was very well appointed, clean and modern. Great stay

We had a wonderful week at this property. Gerard was extremely helpful, from booming to meeting us in person when we arrived late on the Saturday evening. He was helpful in suggesting places to eat and where to go. The house is lovely, perfect for a family of four and is well equipped. We all loved the huge pool! The house is in a beautiful setting and Uzes within easy reach. Boulangerie/small shop and pharmacy all walkable from the house. We had some great trips to the Pont Du Gard, Nimes and the beach (only 1hr 15 mins away).

Just what we were looking for

We reserved the cottage for the month of March. Gerald, the owner, provided detailed directions to the property. The cottage was as described on the website. The bedrooms, living room area, bathrooms, and kitchen were very comfortable and with quality furnishings. Everything was very clean, well equipped, and maintained. As mentioned in other reviews, Gerald is an excellent host and was very welcoming upon our arrival. He gave us instructions on how to operate all of the equipment in the cottage and gave us a thorough orientation. In addition, he also provided some reference tourist books, map of Uzes, and suggestions for restaurants. Gerald lives on the property, but it is large enough to afford as much privacy as you wish. He speaks very good English which is wonderful for those of us who are not fluent in French! As was mentioned in other reviews, the town of Uzes is very close by and we took the short walk by the path to town several times. The cottage is also conveniently located by car near a large Carrefour and shopping center, and within a 10 minute walk to a bakery (sandwiches and bread) and a small grocery market. Uzes is a lovely town and well located in the Gard region which has many nearby attractions to explore. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short by the Covid 19 coronavirus epidemic and we had to leave L’Oustalou in the middle of March.. Gerald was very supportive during this difficult time. We plan to return some day and finish the rest of our vacation!

A wonderfully relaxing fortnight

This was our first stay at this property and we were absolutely delighted with it. The accommodation had everything we wanted, the pool was glorious and our hosts were charming - welcoming and friendly while still being discreet. The location of the gite is ideal with a boulangerie and other shops within a few minutes walk and the town of Uzes close by too. We walked in on one occasion and drove the rest of the time, always parking with ease. All in all a five star holiday.

Our stay at L'Oustalou Jun-July 2019

This property and its pool have been thoughtfully and very skilfully planned , constructed and equipped by Gerald and his building team. It is a very pleasant haven, with good access from the main road but excellent seclusion so that guests can enjoy peace of mind but can go away easily to local attractions. The nearby bakery and small supermarket across the road are both very useful. We are particularly appreciative of Gerald's care and discreet attention (including his top-class wifi facility) during the very unusual period of fairly extreme heat and winds that affected the Uzes area when normal tourism movement was not easy to maintain. It was always a great pleasure to converse with him and be able to settle in to the environment with a sense of security. We would be very happy to return to this villa.

We stayed in March, the cottage was always warm and comfortable. Plenty of room to relax. All the facilities you need to enjoy your stay. Sunny terrace and garden. Gerald was very welcoming and available if we needed anything. The walk into town is pleasant, it took us about half an hour, but we are not fit and we took our time. It was good to walk of the great meals we had. Many places to visit in the area, we went to the cascades at La roque sur Ceze, wonderful and also visited Beaucaire.

A very pleasant cottage on the edge of the beautiful city of Uzès

We spent two weeks in this comfortable cottage. The owner Gerald welcomed us and made us feel immediately at home, he was always willing to help when asked but was careful to give us our privacy as well. The house has everything we needed for a two week stay and offers a lovely swimming pool to cool down in at the end of some very hot days. It is a short walk into Uzès, which is a beautiful old city that is especially vibrant on market days when the market stalls take over all of the old town. Centrally placed between Nîmes and Avignon the property offers many days out exploring the local area where there is so much to see and do. We made a couple of longer trips to Montpellier and to Marseille but really there was more than enough locally to keep us occupied. Definitely an area worth visiting and we’d recommend the property to anyone looking for a base here.

A wonderful retreat

Couldn't have asked for more. In fact, we didn't ask for anything as Gérald had thought of everything. We were welcomed and informed of local rules and resources. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well-equipped. We were able to walk to Uzés on an off-road walking path almost every day. Other days we took side trips to Nîmes, Camargua, Aix-en-Provence, Avignon and Orange. Pool is very well kept and lovely. We would definitely stay again or recommend Gérald's cottage to a friend.

wonderful place to stay

The house was well organized and ready for us; with the owner prepared and ready to guide us through the workings of the house; a perfect place to stay for four. The location is also optimal, being on the outskirts of town but also easily accessible either by car or, more enjoyably, by walking through a quiet footpath into town. Uzes is a wonderful town, with plenty do visit historically but also the house is an excellent stepping stone to the historical offerings of the region.

The cottage was comfortable and pool was a hit with our kids. Enough privacy that you feel "in the country" but you can walk to a decent bakery in 5 minutes or to central Uzes in 15 minutes on a pretty little trail full of butterflies.

The cottage is indeed charming, well-situated and well-appointed.

Gérald welcomed us warmly and explained clearly how everything worked. The cottage has everything you need, from decent showers with plenty of hot water to properly sharp knives in the kitchen to a big comfortable sofa. It has its own sunny terrace, with olive trees for shade. You can walk to Uzès in 20 minutes along a pretty lane, or drive there in under 5 minutes. There's a dangerously good boulangerie just across the road. The weather was cold during our stay so the swimming pool was not an option, but the cottage was lovely and warm. Altogether highly recommended.

Das Ferienhaus ist sehr gut ausgestattet, die Lage ist gut, der Poolberwich ist sehr schön. Alles ist umgeben von einem wunderbaren mediterranen Garten mit vielen Olivenbäumen, Oleandern, Lavendel und Kräutern. Man kann auf der Terrasse unter Olivenbäumen essen. Der Gastgeber Monsieur Gerald ist äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt dort.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und alles war perfekt. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, bestens ausgestattet. Besonders hat uns die große Terrasse mit den Olivenbäumen gefallen, die Schatten gespendet haben. Der Pool war grandios und genau richtig um sich nach einer Tour dort abzukühlen. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat uns sehr nett empfangen. Die Stadt Uzes ist sehr charmant und es war besonders abends sehr schön dort zu sitzen und zu essen. Ausflüge in die Umgebung gab es genug (Pont du Gard, Avignon, Nimes, ..). Ein toller Ort um zu entspannen und Unternehmungen oder Wanderungen in die wunderschöne Umgebung zu machen.

Un séjour parfait dans le duché d'Uzés

Une superbe region et une petite ville pleine de charme ainsi que le gite situé dans une grande et belle propriété.Nous avons particuliérement apprécié la piscine immense, la terrasse sous les oliviers, la propreté et l'accueil des propriétaires, les équipements... etc... Bref , tout est là .Nous reviendrons ...
