A fantastic boutique hotel, with the most incredibly helpful staff. The rooms were fantastic and they were cleaned every day, which we didnt expect. The breakfast included was again more than we expected and there was a great choice as well. The pool area at the top the hotel was again a nice area to relax and was spotless and there was a small bar to enjoy drinks and snacks. Once again I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The staff are a credit to their company and a special thanks to Sandtosh for looking after me and wife at Breakfast time.

The San Karlu exceeded all of my hopes, with its location in the heart of old town Valletta. Service was excellent and so was the breakfast. I recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to holiday in an historic, beautifully renovated building with a nice pool and in walking distance to almost all of Valletta, particularly restaurants and bars.

Amazing location, breath service

I had an amazing stay at San Karlu! The location is perfect—just a short walk (less than 10 minutes) from the main bus stop and close to bars, restaurants, and the main square of Veleta. The staff were incredibly friendly, and I especially want to thank Florianne, who was so helpful with recommendations and guidance on using public transport. The hotel itself is spotless and offers great amenities. The swimming pool was a highlight—perfect for cooling off in Malta’s heat—and there’s a bar and food service if you feel like lounging by the pool all day. Breakfast was lovely, and overall, the experience exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!

Superb hotel! So convenient for the centre of Valletta but very quiet to get to sleep easily. Probably the cleanest hotel we’ve been to. Beautiful rooftop pool to relax by, with a lovely bar to quench any thirst. Will definitely return to this most friendly home from home. Thank you!

Great hotel with boutique feel.

Overall, good experience. We stayed for 3 nights and this hotel was great. I think if you are staying any longer opt for a bigger hotel for space and comfort. We had a double bed and a sofa bed so room was tight. Sofa bed was not comfortable for my 2 teens, probably fine for smaller children though. Roof top pool was lovely for evenings but it's a shame there is not a a view of anything nice to look out on, this would have made sunsets so pretty. Breakfast was small but has a good selection of everything you need to start your day. Limited tables but we never had to wait and went at different times during our stay. Staff was generally very friendly and service was good. I requested a table to be moved out to make room for me to open my suitcase, extra water jug and ironing board, all requests actioned happily. You have to get down some steps to get to the hotel so would not be suitable for people with any kind of mobility issue. Very central so ideal hub to explore valetta from. It looked on Google earth like it was down some dodgy alley, but don't let this put you off, it felt totally safe both in the day and night. Lovely stay for a few nights.

We loved the hotel. I wish I had known that courtyard view meant it was a very small internal courtyard. I would have paid for a better view, more sunlight. But otherwise it was a very lovely, large and clean room. The breakfast was very good.

Excellent Facilities very clean and modern the roof top pool was a much needed after a long day walking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only slight would be cramped at breakfast if busy around peak times and the rooms lack natural light but that didnt bother us and was great for sleeping.

The hotel was clean and in a quiet location, yet just a short walk from the main streets of Valletta. Excellent breakfast selection and friendly, helpful staff. Perfect base for exploring the city and surrounding areas. Situated in a quiet street, no noise at night and only a few minutes walk from the centre. Great variety of breakfast options, all yummy. Very clean and modern hotel, staff always friendly and working hard. Pool area is a bonus, lovely place to cool off after sight seeing. Good cocktails at the pool bar! Would highly recommend if visiting Valetta.

This hotel was perfect, it’s in an ideal location to get to most of the bars, restaurants as well as the tourist attractions! The hotel was clean, very modern and the room was very spacious, very clean and very well presented, we loved the little touches such as the robes, slippers and the little hamper of stuff you may need such as a vanity kit and moisturiser. The staff at the hotel were very accommodating, friendly and happy to help every second of the day! The pool was a perfect edition, it was very clean and the area around it was always presentable! The rooftop bar staff were amazing! The bar Itself served both food and snacks, with the staff bringing them over to where you were located! If there weren’t any towels available upon entering the pool deck, the staff were happy to help and radio down for some to be brought up, they then brought them over to you at your sun lounger or table! All in all, we couldn’t pick any faults with this hotel! It was perfect for us! Thank you for a lovely stay.

This small hotel was very well located for visiting the old city of Valletta. The reception staff were most helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable and very quiet.
